Around The World In 3 Weeks With Airtours.

Sat Oct 21, 2006 11:35 pm

The ultimate package holiday is now on sale - around the world in 23 days and 11 stops.

Airtours are offering the whirlwind holiday, taking in the Taj Mahal, the Sydney Opera House, the Great Wall of China and Egypt's Pyramids.

But setting off on this non-stop adventure would set you back £4,499.

Travellers would visit both hemispheres, four continents and eight countries.

Already, some 330 people have signed up for the trip and they will leave from Manchester Airport on February 27 next year.

To combat boredom on the hours of long flights, people on The Around The World package will be entertained by movies and meals reflecting their destinations.

Hi,

The tour will be operated by an Airbus A330-243 and there will be some 29 crew onboard comprising of; 3 Pilots, 12 Cabin Crew, 10 Representatives, 2 Engineers, 1 Doctor and 1 Ground Service Personnel.

The route will be as follows;

Manchester - New York Newark
New York Newark - Las Vegas
Las Vegas - Hawaii
Hawaii - Sydney
Sydney - Kota Kinabalu (for Borneo)
Kota Kinabalu (for Borneo) - Beijing
Beijing - Delhi (for Agra)
Delhi (for Agra) - Dubai
Dubai - Cape Town
Cape Town - Cairo
Cairo - Manchester

The package comes complete with all accommodation, transfers, most meals in resort, selected excursions, insurance, visas and entry/exit fees, flight meals and selected drinks and a launch party at Manchester Airport prior to departure with a price of £4499. Customers can also choose to upgrade the package to the Premiair Gold service and minimum 4 star accommodation for £5499.

MyTravel Airways will be tailoring menus for each destination to reflect local dishes. A total of 4620 meals will be served onboard.

All passengers will have seat back entertainment, however, lectures, talks and question and answer sessions will be given during flights to give information about each destination. Classic movies and news updates to keep passengers up-to-date with current affairs will also feature. In-flight quizzes will also be held to test passengers knowledge of forthcoming destinations.

The tour follows on the back of the success of MyTravel Airways A/S Around The World Tour held in April this year. On the passengers return, they took out a full page newspaper advertisement to say how much of a wonderful time they had. MyTravel Airways A/S will also conduct a second tour next April.

Awesome!

I am looking forward to make one of these Around the World tours on Flight Simulator this Summer, I will most likely perform this one! Big grin.

Now, wasn't Airtours an independent airline which did operate A332's? I am into their website and am seeing this a My Travel operated tour, or is it Airtours crew and personnel flying a My Travel A332?

Cheers!
Tomas.

Airtours (the airline) has been rebranded MyTravel Airlines. This is part of a wider rebranding which has seen the name of the Airtours Group changed to the MyTravel Group. The Airtours brand is now only used as MyTravel's main tour operating brand

What I don't understand is if someone really wanted to travel the world like that in 23 days I'm sure most of us would rather travel with the different airlines to make it more interesting not just fly on the same jet the whole time!  Confused

But if 330 people have already signed up it must be popular.

Well, I guess a lot of people are just attracted by the idea they dont have to worry about anything by getting this tour. You gotta rember that many of these people are not aviation buffs like us and dont care much about on what planes they fly or what airline, they just want to go around the world!

I of course would love to be on more planes and would probably take a longer route, they completely excluded Central and South America here :@!

Same trip I guess. But I just wonder how much it would cost doing the same trip but with different airlines?  Confused

£4499 is actually very good value - if for instance you flew J/F class to Australia or NZ you'd pay that - so to go around the world and include all your accommodation, meals etc - that's pretty good!

Not sure I could cope with sub-economy seats for the whole journey though - recipe for DVT!

Wow! That sounds really exciting, and not to mention brilliant value for money! Fair play to MyTravel this thing is an amazing idea! Only wish I had enough money to do it  Sad

As for the whole different airlines thing... that would end up costing you about £10,000 once you've booked EVERYTHING seperately, e.g. flights, taxes, visas, transfers, hotels, tour guides etc etc etc.

I'd love to know how they can afford to offer such a trip so cheap?

Hi,

As MyTravel are buying hotel beds and tours in bulk they will be sold to the group at a much lower then usual cost. On top of this, the tour can only be sold in house via the internet and call centre so no commission is not being paid out to 3rd parties.

The Superior package has sold out in one weekend flat and there are not many Standard package seats left. Just based on the Superior package selling out; this has generated £269,451 for MyTravel. Combine that with a further 281 Standard packages totalling £1,264,219 NBV and MyTravel will have yielded a whopping £1,533,670! Even if they only make 10% profit, that’s still over £153,000! However, I would expect that figure to be more towards the 20-30% mark if not even higher. Customers may then choose to add any additional excursions on to their tours which will further boost revenue.

I expect the tour to be completely sold out by the end of the week.
