Was it the RDU route flow to CDG or was it to ORY?

Wish that someone would bring that back.. 757-esque.. *sigh*

There is no CLT-CDG? Now THAT is very VERY odd indeed.. and really needs to be rectified.. especially considering CLT has the most flights of any US hub..

CLT may have the most flights of any US hub, but it's not a strong transatlantic gateway like PHL is.

Another former UA CDG route is their on-off-on-off SFO flight, which is currently off for the foreseeable future.
USAir A321 service now departing for SFO with fuel stops in CAK, COS and RNO. Enjoy your flight.

So it is CDG and not ORY, right?

Now it is.

AA was forced by the French government to move its Paris operations from Orly to Charles de Gaulle on October 1, 1999. As the Raleigh-Paris route far predated that, by over four years, it operated its entire life to Orly, not Charles de Gaulle.

That's what I thought.. it was Orly..

How I wish someone would do RDU-ORY or CDG on a 752.. It could work.. And the 752 would make it. Uhmm.. is someone from Delta reading this? At least it could go to a SkyTeam hum (CDG).. Hmmm..

US Airways has flown CDG-CLT during a very short period. I think it was in 2001 and that the route was discontinued after shortly after 9/11

LAX-CDG lasted for several years. It was introduced in fall 1999 and, IINM, was dropped following 9/11. The plane used to fill up well, but AA failed to capture much of the premium traffic on the route because of competition from AF, so it was stuck hauling the low-yield Coach traffic with lots of upgrades to First and Business Class. UA also jumped onto the route around the same time, not to be one-upped by AA in their then-dominated hub at LAX, which also hurt the fortunes of both airlines' flights.

AF has always dominated the LAX to CDG market, hell they dominate IAD, JFK and other gateways too.

you can add SFO and probably BOS to your list. UA has stopped CDG-SFO and for BOS, the route operated by AA became seasonal a few years ago and may be will not return at all next summer.

US

PIT-CDG
CLT-CDG

PIT-CDG-PIT was US 48/49, and operated from 1999-2002.

CLT-CDG-CLT was US 188/189, and operated from 2000-2001.

Flight times varied; is there a specific date you were looking for?

US has also operated a second PHL-CDG-PHL frequency on-and-off over the years.

Quoting Walter747 (Reply 14):

They actually applied for the BOS-PAR route back when the U.S. and France had a restrictive bilateral, but the route was given to AA. Ironically, the reasoning used by the DOT was that AA would offer ORY service while US would offer CDG service (US having moved in 1995), and that ORY service would give BOS travellers a second PAR airport to choose from, outweighing the fact that US was twice the size of AA at BOS at the time, with significantly more local pax and available connectivity.
I'm the expert on here on two things, neither of which I care about much anymore.

So would US go back and re-visit Boston to Paris in the future subject to having aircraft available to fly it? Could they still make it work? I also thought there was a possibility of a BOS-FRA route at some point or am I getting my wires crossed?

Hi A330323, I am not looking for a specific date, so if you could give me the last schedule before the end of these two US routes that would be perfect.
