I believe PSA flew DC-9s, 737-200s and 727s in there at one time and AirCal flew the 737-100 and 200 into SNA
as well. All these jets were pretty loud in their day, before the onset of hush kits. During the 80s however, when the quiter generation 737-300s and MD
-80s came on board, stage 2 jets were for the most part, banned from operating at SNA
. This, plus the ultra quiet BAE-146 and eventually the 757, were the standard for SNA
Today at SNA
, the 73G, 757 and the A32x dominate the traffic there.
