Centennial Of Santos-Dumont's 14-Bis Flight

Mon Oct 23, 2006 10:17 pm

Searched thoroughly for this thread but didn't find, so I figured I'd note that today is the 100th anniversary of Alberto Santos-Dumont's inaugural flight on his 14-bis aircraft in Paris.

Aaah! In those days there was neither copper nor aluminium wiring to worry about....but so many other things!
Santos-Dumont was an inventive and courageous fellow.

Oh, I did not have the opportunity to watch a 14-bis flying here yesterday  hissyfit
I watched her flight on TV and I am just amazed with its beauty and elegance... 14-bis is so simple as ingenious!

Santos-Dumont was really an important person for aviation. He's the reason for our passion !

Thank you Alberto Santos Dumont.

Good to see that the nicest airport in Brazil, with the best view, keep it's name (SDU)
