JAT Airwys To Code-share EK HAM-JFK...

Tue Oct 24, 2006 10:29 pm

From : Luchtzak..

"Jat Airways will as of November 21st code share with the world’s fastest growing airline Emirates to New York JFK International Airport from Hamburg Airport in Germany. Jat will transport their passengers to the German city using a B737-300 while Emirates will continue the flight to New York with a B777-300ER. Hamburg becomes another new destination within the Jat route network this winter along with Basel, a possibility to return to Banja Luka, Pristina and Pula in Croatia. "

Interesting solution ,cementing the role of HAM as potential EK hub and JAT opening additional revenue generating connections to Germany and the US...

Wow, JAT is now feeding pax into EK flights through both HAM and DXB. This just confirms the fact that very soon, EK's A330's will be a common sight at BEG.

Good to read JAT wants to return to Pula as well - these are good signs of a slow recovery of normal relations between Croatia and Serbia ...
I wish JAT good luck in their new thrive for creating business !

BEG-HAM-JFK

Yeah, sure sounds like a very reasonable routing...

There are signs that HAM will get more EK flights in the future..

What kind of signs? Lord knows it will be interesting to see how HAM will be able to cope with 2 77Ws on the ground at the same time. Gate-wise, I still see this as problematic and restricting for adjacent gates.

Which routes might be on the table for EK at HAM? I presume they could be 5th Freedom routes which all connect to DXB, but I'm curious about which destinations? I could imagine EK going for DXB-HAM-ORD and not DXB-DUS-ORD, or maybe even Canada (e.g. YYZ, YUL) through HAM.

I would expect JAT have had serious discussions with EK prior to put their code on a new flight to HAM-that's an indication that EK do consider HAM a viable ,future prown destination with potential as code-share feeder hub.
I don't say they will develop HAM into a fully blow hub with based aircraft, but you might see additional traffic into North America/Canada,which would be a logic enhancement for JAT ( and other airlines..??)

WRONG! Centavia were rejected with their application for charter flights between BEG and ZAG. This news did not go down well in BEG. I do not see PUY happening anytime soon.

I think that Canada has a fairly restrictive bilateral with the UAE. The weekly flights available have already been snapped up by EY, or they have at YYZ at least.

I know for a fact that at least 2 other German airports are offering very attractive incentives for EK to route future US services via there, so I would be very surprised to see any further growth via Hamburg.

$20 says those two are CGN (main LCC airport, generally offers rather large incentives to get more service) and SXF aka BBI (desperate to get new longhaul flights for Berlin, even more so with BBI on the horizon).
