Boeing 747-300 Sightseeing Flight

Wed Oct 25, 2006 1:13 am

Finally an easy way to get that needed B747-300 flight. airevents.de is setting up a flight from Amsterdam in March 2007 (if anyone is interested that is).

Here the words from Sebastian/airevents

Quote:
let me suggest another thing that we have planned:

Surinam Airways Boeing 747-300 sightseeing flight Amsterdam-Amsterdam
on a saturday afternoon in March. Estimated cost per passenger around
160 EUR including all. Let me know if you would join before we book it!

Thanks for your feedback!

As you see this is a good one for me so I just hope enough will join  bouncy

All the best, Michael

sounds cool. Flew Iberia 743 already but always cool to fly Surinam Airways once. Nice they keep on planning things, I don't hear much from them lately except for the Iran tours.
nobody has ever died from hard work, but why take the risk?

OMG, I'm so tempted to try that out! That plane was my first 747 ride. It was with KL then, as "Leonardo da Vinci" PH-BUW, and I took it with my parents as a 10-year-old on DTW-AMS routing as we moved from Puerto Rico to Holland. In those good old days my dad requested a cockpit visit, and I'll never forget that: standing in a 747 cockpit (manned by 3 guys) under a full moon and over a cloudless stretch of Greenland, with the captain showing me what all the dials meant. It was defenitely THE moment I really hooked up on aviation!

Yes, I'm very tempted, but 160 Euros, that seems to be quite a lot to me. If there is a decent time in the air then it would be good, I've also got to get on a 747SP pretty soon and the 742, both are going to be pretty hard me thinks!

I am interested in that as well. I was on their 747SP and 747-100 flights, too, and it was great. First of all, the flight itselft was awesome and I think I speak on the behalf of PlymSpotter, Canberra and all the other A.netters, too, when I say that we had a lot of fun in CGN on those days.
Hopefully Cedarjet and Tugmaster can join, too.

I guess for some people getting a flight on a 743 or SP is like me getting a flight on a VC-10 or a 707; an old classic that might have been your first experience of flying and were too young to take it all in, or just a classic you want on your record.

I am lucky enough to have made many flights on 743s and SPs and they are a must, especially the SP in a wicked climb!
After Monday and Tuesday even the calendar says WTF...

You certainly do yes  It would be nice to have another meet like that and a special flight too. Perhaps we could even combine this with a mini AMS meet and some time spent out at the runways? Its a very easy airport to get to, from just about everywhere and cheap too, Easyjet, Transavia, Vueling, plus some good fares on legacy airlines.

Nothing on www.airevents.de just yet, but I am waiting with anticipation biggrin

Thats a great idea. Once I will be there I am certainly not in hurry to go back home right after the flight. But how can we spend time out at the runways? Are you thinking of something similar to the Zurich Winter meet in January this year?

Frederik

P.S.: Maybe I can get Sabena332 to take part as well if we all promise to smoke some weed after the meet.

If it's a sightseeing trip, I assume there is a tour guide and food and beverage served. At 160 all included, that would make sense.

It's like a harbor cruise vs. a ferry. One doesn't go anywhere and costs more than the other, but that's not the point of the journey...

Food and beverage, yes. At least it was like this the last two times when I attended a trip organized by airevents.

There wont be a real tour guide though, I guess. The guys from airevents do a pretty good job though. All those plane-crazy nuts running around in the aircraft wouldnt listen to anyone anyway.

Not so much like ZRH, but like the previous and very successful AMS meet last November, it was just a day, although some did stop for longer, and very kindly some of our Dutch members drove us around to the best spotting locations, at AMS there are a few places where there are no fences!

Well, if we all drink a little beer, and smoke a little weed then anything seems possible Wink

The sightseeing flight will be like one hour in the air.
