DAL Activity Today---Pan Am 727-200

Fri Oct 27, 2006 7:21 am

Can anyone fill me in on some plane activity today at DAL. At approx 1632 a Pan Am 727-200 N349PA Clipper Juan Trippe (also had Clipper Connection on the side) took off.
Soon afterwards a DC9 i think series 50, N682RW landed. It was bringing the Detroit Red Wings to play hockey tonight I presume. How about some info on these 2 aircraft? I guess the DC9 used to fly for Hughes Airwest but was really baffled by the Pan Am plane.
Thanks!

I wonder if the Pan Am 727-200 was the same one that took off from IWA (Mesa, AZ) at about 0945MST. The timing would be right. It didn't should up in flightaware, although it arrived at Mesa yesterday from RNO, I guessing with National Guard troops for the border duty.

Saw it land in Reno yesterday morning. Parked over at Mercury.
My definition of cool ? Not trying so hard to be cool.

Pan Am's been at MSY a couple of times in the past few days.....operating JPATS (federal prisoner) charters. They've also been known to operate press charters for Air Force One among their other usual-type ops.....

Tom, tell me you got a pic or two of the bird! Pan Am + MSY = a thing of beauty! Damn I miss the original Pan Am. I used to annoy the hell out of the PA CSA's in MSY in the late 80's, asking them all sorts of questions about the airline. I'm sure they got annoyed with me. And I virtually paid rent at PA's gate on the B Concourse. I just had to be there for every arrival/departure.

I wish I would have known about it earlier. I brought my camera with me today trying to get a shot of VP-BBU and I could have caught the Pan Am..  Sad

I got it with the print camera.....not very close, though, considering it was a heavily guarded JPATS bird  wink .....
