Is this a year over year increase or just the normal winter increases?

There are new routes being added, so this is more than just the normal seasonal expansion.

Alaska and Frontier have gain ground on AA and CO, that's for sure.

I notice that AS is returning to La Paz, Baja California. They had service there and then discontinued it a number of years ago. With recent service to Loreto they have filled in the void left by AeroCalifornia.

Very true. AS will need to keep expanding in Mexico if they want to hold on to their lead, though. 5-6 years ago, AS pretty much had LAX-Mexico covered. Now, DL, F9, UA, and others are adding flights like crazy.

I bet that was part of their thinking by adding routes like PDX-PVR, PDX-SJD, and SEA-CUN. There's plenty of Pacific NW-Mexico resort traffic that would gladly bypass LAX given the chance.

LAX alone we have 12 Mexico daily arrivals, with 10 of them being in the evening arrival bank. Its going to be fun getting gates at night around here!

Which leads to the question. When are AS and LAWA going to get their acts together and do something about T-3 at LAX? Since AS and QX are adding flights at LAX I think it is time for AS to sign a long term lease for T-3, take it out of the time warp it is stuck in, and turn it into a real nice gateway terminal.

I agree with Gmcc regarding T-3. I flew AS to Loreto last summer and found T-3 inadquate for the amount of AS traffic. The speaker system was loud and jarring. There was inadquate space for passengers to wait to board flights. The overall condition seemed shabby.

That was DL's strategy by putting these resort flights through SLC.
