Air China Close To Signing For 10 B777's

Mon Oct 30, 2006 9:54 pm

Did a search, but couldn't find anything on this.

In today's ATW newsletter, there was an article on Air China's Q3 results. At the end of the article, the following was mentioned:

Quote:

Air China is close to signing for 10 777s, believed to be six dash 200LRs and four dash 200Fs.

Here is the link to the article

Nice to see some more potential 200LR orders.

That would be a nice Holiday present for Boeing.

If these and the 6 x 772Fs for CZ are signed prior to year end then there is a very good chance that the 777 series will see greater than 50 firm orders for the year. IMHO there are more orders from China to come for the 777 prior to year end.

It is indeed good news for the 772LR/772F program, thank you for the update UA777300ER appreciate it.

And do not forget the intended order for KAL by the year end too.... It would be another sweet year for Boeing!

the only B 772LR routes that may warrant air china services are those from PEK/PVG nonstop to JNB/NBO/YYZ/MIA and MEX. Other than that, their current fleet of B 767s, B 744s and A 343s can easily fly nonstop to Australia, EU, LHR and USA, YVR from China nonstop.

If they can do JFK with their current equipment, I'm sure they will be able to fly to YYZ without the -200LR's.

By the way, what airport is NBO?

Hmm, that would be really nice!

I think those 77Ls will be deployed on routes to Europe and America (N&S). So, the 772 can go back on asian routes.

PS: NBO is Nairobi, Kenya.

It might be overkill for North America and Europe. I think Africa (which is high on China's list both economcially and diplomatically) is the target for the -200LR. If it were to be used on North America, then maybe...CAN-ATL. YOu know Skyteam and the old DL relationship.
My name is Centrair but HND is closer. Let's Japanese Aviation!

The imminent launch of the B787-10 makes that unlikely. Starting next year, Boeing will do well to sell 30-50 B777s per year.

Man, the 777 sure is selling like hot cakes this year, just like the 787. Congrats to Boeing on a very successful year!!! Airbus is still feeling the pain and it does not look too good for them so far unfortunately. Either way, good luck to both Boeing and Airbus and its recovery.

Are they likely to use these for ULR services or is it just to boost the payload on some of the longer routes?

Hi RJ111,

I think that Air China will order the 77L for boosting the payloads on some routes. Perhaps we also will see some new longrange flights with them. But mainly I think it's the payload!
