What's New About The New Alitalia Livery?!

Tue Oct 31, 2006 2:59 am

I just read that Alitalia has a new livery. Call me stupid but I'm failing to see whats actually new about it.

If someone would be happy to give me some pointers I'd appreciate it.

Thanks.

The stripe is lower down, the tail logo now extends down the fuselage, the word 'Alitalia' is in a new typescript and the black radome has gone. What more do you want? Big grin

Italy are famous for design but this "new" livery is ridiculous, one green stripe under the windows....woow!

Exactly the same I thought of when I saw it for the first time few days ago. Unbelievable for such a country with a tradition in class and finest design. This is a misser 'first class'.

Personally I think it is a pathetic attempt. All the things one is able do with paint these days and this is what they come up with.

It is as bland as eating spaghetti without any sauce! But then again, that's alitalia right?

Spaghetti without sauce sounds yummy to me, and Alitalia's revised livery doesn't look that bad.

At least they didn't go for the all too common and highly boring white livery

They could at least be more imaginative. What about the blue they use for their football team!

Look they are a failing airline - if they are going to repaint thair aricraft they might as well have a go at a image change - they need to.

If you look at Etihad or Gulf Air (two airlines I have not flown on) I image a smart interior and I would be more inclined to fly with them.

I know they say don't judge a book by its cover but we all do!

They got rid of everything good about it. The high cheatline and black radome.  Sad

Have AZ actually fanfared this as a new or even revised livery? Or is just an unheralded change like that that BA introduced unannounced:

or the adapted Varig livery:

Personally I see the 'new' AZ livery as a revised version of the old livery just as the small changes to the BA and slightly larger changes to the RG liveries are revisions.
As for it being

It is a waste of time if it was announced with a great fanfare. But I do not see where the effort was made. But otherwise . . . Well AZ certainly did not spend a small fortune with a design bureau and I guess there is a saving in the cost of green paint partly balanced by a rise in the cost of red paint.

If it was me in charge of designing a new livery concept, I would have a red stripe going up the front side of the tail fin, with the back part of it being solid red. I would have "Allitalia Airlines" in big font times new roman across the sides of the fucelage, with "Allitalia" being in red and "Airlines" being in green paint... This would not exactly be an all-white livery, and it certainly would not cost too much I don't think, but that's just me...

Well, it's a small incremental change, not a major rebranding - they couldn't really afford that right now. I'm sort of "eh" about the whole thing - I'm a big fan of window-level cheat lines, and I liked the "Snoopy nose." That said, it's not a bad evolutionary design, and at least they didn't go "Eurowhite."

Eurowhite

Euro White?

Very generalistic - don't you think?!

Please don't put us Brits into the same bracket as Air France!

Anyway - more importantly - at least we keep out planes clean!
