Bmi Medium Haul Plans

Tue Oct 31, 2006 4:42 am

Just thought Id post this from an article on bmi's first DME flight

Quote:
The new Moscow route marks the first stage in bmi’s plans to develop medium haul destinations. Cairo is a focus, as well as St Petersburg and two other Russian cities.

Im interested in these two other Russian cities - isn';t the UK/Russia air service agreement quite restrictive in what cities can be served?

In the article, bmi's CEO also states the airline is not for sale

From http://www.abtn.co.uk/bmi_Not_For_Sale

"The operation is a partnership with Transaero who also have a daily service transferring its eight year Gatwick operation. Both airlines are privately owned. Transaero is Russia’s second largest international carrier and whilst using Boeing 737s on this route also operates six former Virgin Atlantic Rolls-Royce powered Boeing 747 – 200s."

That's almost to cute with the VS 742's... Surely SMB could sell to VS now, they're all in the same boat..!  Smile
