What's Up With Brazilian ATC?

Tue Oct 31, 2006 12:19 pm

The last couple of days BSB, CNF and SP have been having major delays. Anyone know what is up with that? I'm flying from JFK to CNF on thursday and hope everything will be fine  Smile

Globo says 29 flights out of CNF were suspended. Is there really so much traffic to cancel 29 flights out of CNF?

Seems that 9 members of ATC in BSB (they were working on the sad day Gol 1907 crashed the Legacy) are not working and due to this some ATC staff from other airports has been moved to Brasilia this weekend to solve the matter. Seems that today they face problems at CNF (and again BSB).

Some sources says ATC staff is now using the international limit to run not more than 14 aircrafts at same time (other says they use to took care of up to 22 planes!), and some areas like Sao Paulo and Brasilia, there is much more than 14 planes at same time.

Any plane with stop at BSB, CNF, GRU or CGH today face major delay of up to 4 hours !

But others like WebJet POA-GIG-SSA, arrived at GIG from POA 16 minutes in advance.

International flights out of GRU also face major delays.

New York + Rio de Janeiro = One of the best combinations !

I thought this was only affecting "US" Flag carriers.

CO30/31 EWR-GRU-EWR had enroute delays and reroutes. yesterday and today.

ADXMatt,

What kind of reroutes did Continental experience?

Thanks,
Tony
