I remember having flown on AeroMexico flight AM
683 once on X'mas day in 2004. It was fresh beginning for AeroMexico in Chicago because I remember that the check-in staff were from Mexicana and so were the boarding passes (SEE
THE PIC BELOW). I remember this very well because I had to fight with the MX
check-in agent to convince her that, YES, you can earn AF
miles with AeroMexico. She kept telling me no, no, no. Who did she think she was talking to?
Strangely enough, that flight was scrapped after that winter, I'm almost 100% sure. I remember searching for the same flight right after Winter 2004 and AM
no longer had its own equipment flying into Chicago. When I checked on AM
routemap and timetable in Spring 2005, I also saw that Chicago was no longer serviced by AM
STRANGE WAS THAT?
My guess is that it was a temporary thing either to test the market or to help Mexicana out with the busy holiday season--Chicagoans' freezing ass needed serious thawing in sunny Mexico that winter. AFTER all, at the time, AM
were one united entity under CINTRA.
At any height, Bravo AeroMexico. Great to see AeroMexico finally taking stable root at ORD
. I'm equally glad to hear that GDL
is now bridged by AeroMexico. Too bad I no longer live in GDL
'cause I would have been a regular on that GDL
It seems like flight AM
has been reinstated (don't know since when...anybody?). In fact, as we speak (31 October 2006, at 6:57PM Paris time), flight AM
683 is right above Monterrey and will soon land at MEX
