It is quite interesting to see two skyteam members fighting each other for supremacy on the MEX-IAH route instead of cooperating under a codeshare. Hope they finally solved their problems and we can see a codeshare in the near future...

I remember having flown on AeroMexico flight AM 683 once on X'mas day in 2004. It was fresh beginning for AeroMexico in Chicago because I remember that the check-in staff were from Mexicana and so were the boarding passes (SEE THE PIC BELOW). I remember this very well because I had to fight with the MX check-in agent to convince her that, YES, you can earn AF miles with AeroMexico. She kept telling me no, no, no. Who did she think she was talking to?  stirthepot

Strangely enough, that flight was scrapped after that winter, I'm almost 100% sure. I remember searching for the same flight right after Winter 2004 and AM no longer had its own equipment flying into Chicago. When I checked on AM routemap and timetable in Spring 2005, I also saw that Chicago was no longer serviced by AM. HOW STRANGE WAS THAT?

My guess is that it was a temporary thing either to test the market or to help Mexicana out with the busy holiday season--Chicagoans' freezing ass needed serious thawing in sunny Mexico that winter. AFTER all, at the time, AM and MX were one united entity under CINTRA.

At any height, Bravo AeroMexico. Great to see AeroMexico finally taking stable root at ORD. I'm equally glad to hear that GDL-ORD-GDL is now bridged by AeroMexico. Too bad I no longer live in GDL 'cause I would have been a regular on that GDL-ORD-GDL route.

It seems like flight AM 683 MEX-ORD-MEX has been reinstated (don't know since when...anybody?). In fact, as we speak (31 October 2006, at 6:57PM Paris time), flight AM 683 is right above Monterrey and will soon land at MEX.  Wink  bigthumbsup   goodvibes

Its going to be a very competitive route for AM, CO already has 9 flights (5 737s & 4 RJs) between IAH and MEX. I think there's room for both, I hope it works out for AM.

It seems like for every AM aircraft parked at the international terminal, you see at least 3 MXs. Things were different a few years back.

Conventional wisdom tells me that AM should deploy the 737-800 on this route.

I'm still waiting to see other MExican airlines at MCO, such as Avolar, either seasonally or starting charter flights.

Why did Aeromexico cancel their plan to add MEX-PHL in December? Was it lack of aircraft, or?

Are there any plans for AM to increase flights or destinations from LAX and or ONT?

Operational days: 1567

SAN 0820 737
MEX 1335

With the DL focus city at MCO, there should be some decent skyteam connections at MCO.

After flying 2x daily flights MEX-ORD, AM pulled out because of Cintra's policies; IIRC, some monthly flights were operated in order to preserve authority in the route. Now, that MX has been sold, AM's expansion in Chicago continues; in the next couple of months, up to 21x weekly flights will be operated to ORD:

MEX-ORD: 9x.
GDL-ORD: 7x.
BJX-ORD: 2x.
DGO-ORD: 3x (1 seasonal).

I see AM increasing MEX-ORD to 2 daily in the very near future, its only logical. They should also look at a possible MTY-ORD.

I seem to recall hearing that AM had a large number of flights daily (6-7 including a 'RON') from IAH in the 80s, with N/S service to CZM, MID, CUN, ACA, MEX, MTY......
