This is a major tragedy. Even though I attended ERAU, I do not know the two.

Question - If they are from Embry Riddle - Instructor and student, why weren't they using an Embry Riddle aircraft? The only flight school I am aware of in the Daytona Beach area that use Beech Duchesses is Cloud Dancer Aviation - ERAU uses the similar looking Piper Seminole. I have seen that plane before - what I could recognize from the tail piece and I am almost sure that is one of Cloud Dancer's planes.

The instructor was an Embry Riddle graduate, the student was an older guy not related to ERAU.

From your comrades up north, RIP to the two involved.

The aircraft operated out of Air America at DAB. The instructor, Daniel Monroe (aka Chopper) was one of my best friends during our time at ERAU.

Chop, you will be missed...

Last winter I was spotting with another person the day before the Daytona 500 race, he had a radio and heard a distress call about an electrical problem on a Beech Duchess. The plane landed without any further incident, but I believe it was this aircraft that we did see land. If I am not mistaken also, they park these aircraft on the south ramp near Taxiway Tango.
