At this rate, if it continues, Boeing would sell 930 for the year. 1000 appears within reach.

I wonder if the UFO 777 is a VIP (a BBJ 777)?

Unlike the 787 and 747-8I, the 777 is well-enough established that the airframe could just as easily be for fleet-topping.

Seeing as Boeing is at 775 net orders that means they will have to firm up 225 over two months. That's more than 110/month. I don't think they'll be able to do that and if anything they'll get about half that number. Still over 900 firm net orders for 2006 is very very good.

Airbus just did about that in a week, so it's possible. I do agree that 900 would be very good for Boeing.

Yeah well I doubt that another 150 x 737NG order is coming about anytime soon. Maybe Boeing can do an Airbus and sell 200 x 787 to EK next month on Dec. 29th.

In the comment at the end of the page, they say :

Quote:

Changes this week: Added two new unidentified orders (one each 737 and 777), and identified two previously unidentified orders (GOL Airlines for twenty 737s and Southwest Airlines for one 737 order).

But, the 737 UFO count is the same from the previous week (78). They identified SWA as a customer for 1 UFO frame, and they added another.

What about GOL's 20? Did they add 20 UFO 737s or did they not substract GOL's 20 from the UFO count? It looks like the latter because the total orders this week is 775, up two from the 773 last week.

The 737 Gross 2006 order count seems to be double counting GOL's 20.

Just in case anyone else was wondering why the numbers didn't add up  Wink

No at the end of 10/24 the 737 UFO count was 98 at which is when Boeing put 20 737s as a UFO. GOL they had ordered the 20 737s this week and Boeing ID them as such. Boeing also took off 1 737 UFO (Southwest) but added one more on.

Ah, thanks for that, NYC777. I was under the impression that the only change for 10/24 was the identification of CIT Leasing as the customer for 5 UFO 787s.

Only 1 widebody and 1 737? Boeing is losing momentum faster than one of SRB's PR campaigns.

Do Boeing have a better chance of being able to win the numbers battle this year or is it possible Airbus will pull another Chinese out of the hat?

Even if they do, it's just a frivolous title anyway.

The value of orders booked is more important, and Boeing is selling widebodies at an amazing pace.

I have no Idea , however Airbus has come out with statements this year stating that the gap was too wide and boeing will take the orders Lead this year. I seriously doubt that Airbus will sell any more Chinese A319's,20's specially with the 150 order placed a few days ago . One thing is clear - Boeing will clearly have the Lead ( by a significant margin) interms of VALUE of the order with the 41 747-8's and nearly 25 777's in addition to 140+ 787's Being sold as of today in addition to the 560 737's sold till date !

Look at the end of the day Boeing 737s orders YTD will be greater than all of Airbus' YTD orders (both narrow and widebodies combined) by not just number ordered but also by value.

Right now Airbus has to worry about getting the A380 in order, finding cash for the A350, finding cash to pay BAe, sorting out the A400M program. It seems to me a full plate for them.

I would think that Airbus has far, far more significant problems to sort out than
whether or not they win the "orders race". I'm sure you agree. eyebrow

Airbus winning order races is so Forgeard.

Airbus Gallois style is all about getting good designs and working practices. Winning back the trust of the customers with the right product, designed to spec, and built on time is what will bring in the orders.

All that has been deduced in the month he's been CEO? I'd like to wait at least an entire year before we start discussing how Gallois treats wanting to win yearly titles like "Most Delivered" or "Most Sold".

Finding cash will be the HUGE problem now that it seems there may be dealings, IMO, with Airbus Commercial subsidies and an A330 Tanker being built in the US.  box

It is an order for which a contract has been signed, for which deposit dollars have been tendered, and yet the buyer, for what ever reason, does not want to be identified.

Why would an airline or leasing company not want to be identified?

Numerous reasons ...

Most often is the case, an airline wants to announce the order on their own terms, so they ask Boeing to temporarily withhold their name from the order backlog. For example, WN recently held several UFO 737-700 but made the order public when they released their Q3 earnings report.

On certain occasions, it can also stand to benefit an airline for the general public not to know what order they placed. This is true if the airline is still in negotiations from a competitor to secure additional aircraft.

It's all business in the end.
