Who Do You Think Will Take AC A330-300s?

Fri Nov 03, 2006 10:36 am

Hello all

I know there has been alot of talk about AC A340-300s leaving the fleet and who will take them. Now lets try the twin engine, who will take AC A330-300s when they are replaced with B777s? We all know the A330-300s will be staying around for at least 3 or 4 years maybe? We all know its not official which airline will acquire AC A340-300s but there were lots of speculations on SR and other airlines?. Any speculations who wants the twin engines from AC?
Your comments are appreciate.

They are keeping the A330-300s for awhile but they will be replaced with B777s.

When? If they are hanging around for a while isn't it a bit early to speculate?

I agree. The question is pointless right now. 2009 might be a good time to ask it.

How old will the A333s be in 2009? 15 years or so? I'll guess that longer-haul LCCs might be interested in such a plane, as the A333 will be fairly efficient even in 10 years from now. Also, AC has a good mx-reputation, right? That'll make them attractive too...

The first A330 built would be 15 years indeed. AC A333s have been delivered between October 1999 and August 2001, so they'll be between 8 and 10 years old.
But I think what really matters is the way they are maintained as well as the number of cycles and flying hours they have accumulated.

Cheers.

Of course it is pointless, because anything can happen between now and 2010.

But if you must know, My friend's uncle's co-worker's mistress', barber's wife heard from a source that WS will be taking them for the new YYC-MEX YYC-EZE and YYC-GRU.  Yeah sure

Cheers,

The aviation landscape can change so much in 4 years that this really is a pointless exercise. Airlines go bankrupt, merge and emerge. There are two many variables that can change in that timeline that speculation is even pointless. Who's to say that an airline that doesn't even exist now doesn't grab them? Or maybe, God forbid, they'll invent cheap and efficient personal transporters a la Star Trek and the aviation business will be wiped out. You never know...

I know MYT have a mix of 767/A330 at the moment, but believe they are looking to get more 330's in,when 767 lease expires in 2-3 years.
They have 330-200's at the moment, but scandinavian operation has 330-300's.

The A333s are being replaced by B787s, possibly B787-9 if AC orders some. They will also undergo project XM as well so they their seats and IFE will be the same as the B763s and B777s.

SR

I wish SR would still be flying around. I assume you are talking of Swiss which is now LX, former Crossair code.

LX will get 330 from LH and 343 from OS. There where rumors about the AC 340 as well but nothing confirmed yet.

LH since they are very unlikely to order the 777 or the 787 at this point.

How about wondering what AC routes the A330s will be taking over after the A340s leave the fleet?  scratchchin

Basically... the same routes they fly now. With the exception of shifting some of them off of YYZ-LHR/FRA and YUL-FRA when the 773s come in. Otherwise look for them bumping 763s off of trans-atlantic runs and the 763s bumping 762s and 321s domestically and so on until the planned removals have been covered.

Right now, AC's 333 are staying and will undergo project XM indeed. Of course things can change, but they aren't going anywhere right now before 2011. So it is very early for any sort of speculation.
