I was thinking tonight it would be very nice to see one in STL. AA flys a 757 or md80 to MIA the 75 continues to SJU, these flights are ALWAYS full. Sure would be nice. What a beauitful plane.

Caribean and South America especially from Miami and JFK. San Juan is a huge destination for the A300, most JFK to SJU are A300's. They fly from Miami to BOG, CCS and as far south as Lima, Peru.

Most AA AB6's recently went to "C checks", still ongoing...for the most part they look cleaner and are getting AA's latest bulkhead designs which gives a refreshing feeling to the cabin. Rumor is AA extended their leases for another 2 yrs. most likely you'll see AA AB6's past 2010. Hopefully a replacement will be announced before that time (perhaps current 763's or new 787's). I heard from AA employees that AA/Airbus are working closely to enhance the A300's reliability. AA A300's are work-horses and get beat up pretty bad, they fly high-density routes and do not get the detailed attention other types such as 777/763's get. Nice planes though and pretty comfortable, I'll hop on one any time versus a narrow cramped 757. According to AA RES, MIA-SJU-MIA will get (6) A300's each way daily during Xmas holiday season, other Caribbean routes will also be flown on A300's and many SJU flights that are currently flown on 757's will be seasonally upgraded to A300's.

STI is also an all A300 destination. Looks huge next to DL 738 and B6 A320 at this tiny caribbean airport.

STI-MIA is 738
STI-JFK is 300
STI-SJU is AT7*AE

Although the three huge buses that come in a day are the main attraction there.  smile

Yes, some of the interiors have been updated and all will be for aircraft that are staying in the fleet, which is most of them. The old economy seats and bulkheads were getting pretty frayed.

They are confined to Caribbean missions and, additionally, the medium stage (Columbia-Ecuador-Peru) Miami-western South America routes such as Guayaquil.

Where are you wanting to go? Just look at the online customer-available schedule at aa.com. You will see several dozen available options from Miami and Kennedy, plus a few of the other mainland-San Juan services such as Hartford and Orlando. The 757s crept into the picture in a serious way the past few years. Make certain that you select a 2-2 window seat and don't get in the middle seats in economy or you are out of luck getting any view from that huge cabin.

Also, if you are seated behind the wing, I hope that unlike another poster you do not panic when you see a shallow flap setting before your takeoff roll, which is how A306 flaps should be set on many long sea-level fields.

Not my fav equipment but you can have a very comfortable trip out of Miami to Port-Au-Prince, Santo Domingo, San Juan, Ciudad de Mexico or Caracas on one of them.
