Does this show the desperation of the Gulf carriers? What price are the non-stop carriers offering at - I'm assuming those will all be at the 300 level or higher one way (given you've only listed 9W amongst the non-stop options)?

All fares ex Mumbai.

Its shows the new capacity to and from India to the gulf, and how the gulf players, who mugged India for decades with high fares are now struggling. I cant believe that a last minute fare is so low...

Virgin premium economy is £400 one way!

AI is about £380 one way in Y.

BA (no surprise) is chocca full all weekend.

I wonder what the Gulf carriers will do when there's more service on the Kangaroo route - since that's their other traditional route? And there's bound to be more/better service sooner than later.

And whose fault was that other than the asinine Indian government?

Nice. Maybe this will also happen on the India-US sector, which is seeing quite an increase in capacity...  bigthumbsup

If it's only ex-BOM, who's making that last-minute shopping trip to London??  cool

I assume that to make a statement like this you've ever been shopping in London at the right time?

It all depends on where you live, what you earn and what you like to spend your money on.

London is a lot cheaper than Tokyo, Dubai, Paris etc and on a par with NY and Berlin. And unlike other places in the world there is actually something to buy here.

I have regularly seen (and often purchased) one-way tickets BOM-LON on day of travel for ~Rs.12000+tax on airlines as varied as QR/VS/BD/AI/EY/GF/AZ.

No offense intended on my original post. That being said, I have spent a lot of time in the UK, and found it very expensive for everything - whether electronics (cheaper in the US), clothes (cheaper in India), groceries (cheaper anywhere else in the world) etc. I'm of course talking only about the absolute costs, not the costs relative to income or standardized for PPP.

What are the fare likes ex-MAN, BHX and GLA for India compared to those out of LHR?

I believe all of these are just preceived notions, cause when the few times I've been in Tokyo, it's really not that expensive compared to the states. Food, taxis, drinks, etc... not bad. Everyone hyped it up... but I guess it all depends on your spending habits and what not...

That's bloody brilliant!  rotfl

Those fares look pretty decent too. EY F for £762 one way sounds superb  thumbsup , I suspect the one way fare coming back isn't so competitive...

Brother, no offense but London is the priciest place in the world right now, it is more expensive than even Tokyo and way more than Paris.

While the premium fares are cheap, the economy fares are not exactly mind boggling. Provided i take a return journey, i can get on a BA flight from LHR-JFK tomorrow for £134. Of course, once you check First, you're looking at £3335 one way.

Wish there were crazy low fares from IAD to DEL as well. But i guess it will be a while before prices fall on the US-India sector.
