TAM Leases 2x A320 From Virgin America

Fri Nov 10, 2006 7:32 pm

I don't know if this has been discussed before. If so my apologies.

Well according to Skyliner aviation, TAM will be leasing two A320's from Virgin America. The two A320´s are expected to arrive in December 2006.

It really looks like TAM is unstoppable with it's expansion.

I wonder what this means for VX getting a license?

Amazing expansion, it could make TAM fleet reach 100 aircraft ending December 2006, or the biggest fleet in South America.

They probably don't expect it too soon. According to their homepage, they'll fly as soon as they get a license.

Really amazing, and they will receive more planes also from Airbus. TAM keep a lot of domestic routes authorized and still waiting for planes like BEL-GRU-BEL, POA-GIG-POA, CWB-GIG-CWB, CPQ-GIG-CPQ, CGH-GIG-REC, POA-FLN-GIG-FLN-POA.

Also they have plans to replace all their F100 fleet by the first quarter of 2008.

POA-FLN-GIG-FLN-POA.

Lipe, I think this route is already operational and started this week.

Are they getting E-jets to replace them?

Felipe

Does this mean that KL can finally get more F100's, or do they look more for the F70's?

I would not think KL wants to "downgrade" its fleet...

Probably not, KL is not very keen on acquiring ex-TAM F100's.. The PH-LMV was ex-TAM but that wasn't really a 'successful experiment'. PH-LMV left the fleet after only a few weeks and is now flying somewhere in Canada.

Indeed, F100's are certainly NOT a sucessful experience in TAM's fleet. No need to mention facts. Anyway, they are all ageing and I'm sure that an airline of the status of TAM needs a better product such as the A319/A320 it has been using to replace the F100s.

No. A319s due to a strong market increase.

It will be upgraded to 2x daily very soon Hardi, one as a leg on POA-FLN-GIG-BEL flight, and another one specific POA-FLN-GIG. Sources from TAM says advance bookings are very well for the 1st flight.

I don't think so as Hardi and Fokker70NG comments.

Right, just adding some words, Tam comments at time of choice was that the higher demand drives them to choose A319 instead of E-Jets.
