If you have to ask, you can't afford it  Wink. J/K I think a brand new ERJ-145 would cost about $15-20 million (probably $10-12 million for used?) A quick search on wikipedia says it's $16-22 million.

According to financial transactions this year, the average cost of a new E145 was $17.9million, with used examples in the market ranging between $8-16million.

I believe, Arthur Hailey in hist book Airport mentions that B707 costs under $10M (do not remember the exact figure).

Yes but at the time "Airport" was researched and written a brand new car retailed at only $2-3000.

Early B707s and DC-8s in the late 1950s/early 1960s sold for around $6 million, and the first 747s fin the early 1970s for about $24 million. But the original Ford Mustang had a base US suggested retail price of $2,368 when launched in mid-1964 although most sold for more thanks to the long options list. The cheapest Mustang today has a base price of $19,995, although it has far more standard equipment than its predecessor of 42 years ago.

Since you have started a conversation about pricing, I want to ask your opinion and ask how many years it will take for a modern long-haul airliner to become profitable, when a normal aircraft has a life of 25 years (from which the 10 last years have dramatically increased maintenance costs). After a brief check at boeing's prices (http://www.boeing.com/commercial/prices/index.html) I understand that a decision to buy a number of airplanes costing well above $200 million, needs a lot of studying about routing, ticket pricing, passenger compartment arrangements etc.

well in the beginning it was $20,5000,000 for a brandnew ERJ-145

Now its around the $18,000,000 for a plane without seats etc.

When these planes came out, the prices were as follow, depending on excact type:

ERJ-135 $13.000.000-$14.000.000
ERJ-140 $16.750.000-$18.000.000
ERJ-145 $20.500.000-$22.500.000
