What Airline Is This?

Mon Nov 13, 2006 9:12 pm

Hi all,

I was watching a DVD and there was a video of the following plane landing. I can't for the life of me recognize what airline it is. It's possibly landing at a Seattle area airport since that's where the DVD was produced. Also there is a little ball looking thing attached to a string to the tail, like seen on planes being tested. Do any of you know what the airline is?

Big version: Width: 640 Height: 480 File size: 900kb

Sorry about the not so good quality, the video was bad to begin with and my DVD program captures images at 640x480.

Could be a private one. Although no winglets.

It's a BBJ in Boeing's house colours.

The colours look the same, but are you sure it's the BBJ? The plane on the video capture has a continous window line on the port side, while the BBJ has some windows missing. Plus, one on the vidcap lacks the winglets:

Not that it matters, though...

The Winglets could have been added later on. Or the aircraft in the picture is an older model B737 in the same colour scheme.

Yup, its the BBJ. The 737 BBJ, one of my favorite.

Yes. Note the "BBJ" logo on the top of the tail, identical to that in the BBJ photo link you posted.

This IS a 737BBJ. Given that it has a test drag connected to the verticle tail its probably a test aircraft prior to the launch of the series. Probably why it doesn't have winglets (added after/during testing).

I don't think winglets were available when the first BBJ's were built. There are several a.net photos of BBJ's without winglets.
