First 10 Airlines To Receive The 787?

Wed Nov 15, 2006 3:56 am

Hi ... I have done a search on this but couldn't find tha answers!!

I'd like to know which will (likely) be the first 10 airlines to receive the 787,
and also the "top ten" airlines overall, in terms of order size (confirmed).

I've heard that JL will receive the first 787 (787-3) but don't know for sure...
Thanks Guys!

First 10 Airlines To Receive The 787?

I believe NH gets the first one, and I believe it will be a 787-8.

As to the top ten current customers, Boeing's Orders and Delivery page accessible from www.boeing.com/commercial can provide that on a week-by-week basis.

Well, it seems this info is scarse to none on the internet. Maybe Boeing isn't sure yet.  Wink

Anyway, from what I find ANA is the launch customer
LOT is the European launch customer
NW is the North American launch customer

Anyway, the airlines scheduled to start taking delivery in 2008 are...

All Nippon Airways
Air New Zealand
Japan Airlines
All the Chinese carriers
Ethiopean Airlines
Air India
Northwest
Royal Air Maroc
LOT
Qantas
CR Airways

I'm not sure how accurate the data is since I can't find any other sources...

Qantas

To be fair, Qantas Mainline will not be receiving their 787s until 2009. Qantas Jetstar is what begins receiving aircraft in 2008.

Since Air New Zealand changed their 787s from -8s to -9s, their first delivery isn't until late 2009 or 2010, right? No longer 2008?

Does anybody know who the launch customer will be? There is always prestige involved when the first revenue flight takes place.

The -8 will be the only variant off the assembly lines for the first year +

I believe the -3 will be the next variant off the line in the 2010 timeframe (with ANA again being the launch customer), then the -9 just a few months later.

I thought First Choice (somehow) was the launch customer or at least on the top of the list.

Let's see....
Base info
First 787-8 delivery - 2008
787-3 - Mid-2010
787-9 - Late 2010

NH June 2008 (Launch Customer...Number one to fly 787-8 and later 787-3)
NW August 2008 (6 planes per year 2008 to 2010)
KE receives 787 between 2008 and 2013
LOT in 2008
Air Maroc 2008
JL 2008
ET 2008
AI 2008
CR Airways 2008
Chinese carriers 2008 (order of deliver to what airline is still unknown)
Jetstar 2008
Qantas 2009
NZ 2009 (first 787-9)
Vietnam 2009
CO 2009
First Choice 2009
Blue Panorama 2009
SQ 2009
Pegasus 2009
LCAL 2009
AC beginning in 2010
Icelandair 2010
Monarch 2010
AM 2010 (via LIFC)
LIFC 2010
Kenyan 2010
Garuda 2011 (Unstable order)
Air Pacific 2011
CIT 2012

I am missing someone I know but I went through every 787 press release and got what I could. NH and NW are definite months. After that no clue in what order airlines receive the plane. The first 787-3 goes to NH and the first 787-9 goes to NZ.

They did. Maybe the pilot contract issue caused them to have to give a few slots away. Qantas may have actually secured slots befreo AC before making the final decision. This is speculation of course.

First Japanese built section for the first NH plane will leave NGO in January. Is to arrive in Everett in February. (will go to Vought first to be connected to other pieces before being flown to Everett.)
Yes...I am not a KIX fan. Let's Japanese Aviation!

Do Pegasus and LCAL have any customers yet?

Also, of the ILFC order for 22, from what I can see, the customers are as follows:

Aeromexico 3 (excludes AM's most recent order, which is direct)
Air Seychelles 2
Flyglobespan ?
Blue Panorama 4-6?

Whatever way you look at it, though, ILFC seems to have around 7-8 of its order unaccounted for?

Don't forget also that although Aeroflot has lost its delivery positions (and LY and IZ), these still exist and you can be pretty sure that Boeing is getting quite a few phone calls right now!

That is either old or it is a list of the first airlines to order...not sure which.
NZ has changed their order to the 789 and will be the first airline to recieve the 789.

yeah late 2009/2010 I think, they are the 1st for the 789 and are no longer ordering the 788 at this stage.
56 types. 38 countries. 24 airlines.

I'm sure that current 787 customers as well as premier prospects are talking to Boeing about the slots.

It will be interesting to see if BA and LH decide they want those slots bad enough to move up the timetable of their review and decision. It will also be interesting to see if Boeing ties some of the slots to 748i orders in a package deal.
