Wow, great plane, even though the livery is not complete. I had no idea SV was planning to lease A32X machines. Maybe our friend HiJazzey can help us out.

Really impressive, former all-Boeing SV going Airbus suddenly? A330s rumors and now an A321?

Do they have a new livery, or is this just because of the original Onur Air scheme?

Same thing with the Embraer ERJ-195.

You forget SV's A300s which have been operating since 1984. And the A321 is just leased.

Definitely not a new livery.

   Not all-boeing fleet ...
Saudia is still operating quite a strong fleet of Airbus A300.
Saudia is even one of the oldest Airbus customer, the first A300B4 (msn 24, HL7221 ) being introduced in SV fleet in 1980.

Saudi Arabian lease in aircraft every year to provide extra capacity for the Hadj pilgrimage flights. This has no direct bearing on the carrier's own fleet, as the aircraft are crewed, maintained etc. by the operating company.

according to Turkish aviation website airporthaber.com Onur Air has started operations on behalf of SV for the upcoming hajj pilgrim season. The report says that SV leases

6x A300-600
2x A300-B4
4x A321

from 8Q including 120 pilots, 416 flight attendants, 30 ground handling agents, 80 technicians and 4 managers. They are going to carry 280.000 pilgrims. A very big deal for 8Q in my eyes.  dollarsign   dollarsign   dollarsign

The article could be read here but in Turkish only http://www.airporthaber.com/hb/detay.php?id=10268

Allright, I actually meant all-American, they also have their MD90s. The A306 are from 1984, so it is safe to say that they haven't bought any Airbus for more than 20 years. (In my view based to a certain degree on their political relationship with Washington after 1990. I know I'll get flamed for this, so I have to say, I can't prove it, but the indications are clearly there.) Therefore I was a little over-enthusiastic.

Yes, the Onur air wet leases are for Hajj purposes. They've leased from Onur in the past as well. However, you should be seing some A32X in Saudi colours a few months later on a more permanent basis. As I mentioned in another thread, SV is sourcing a mix of A32X/A330 as interim lift until they can get new aircraft delivered. So they should be around for a couple of years at least. Those planes are to replace the 747 classic fleet which is going to be retired next year.

I believe TC-OAA, an A300-600, is also now in basic SV colours. It was spotted at MAN recently, operating for Onur Air.

There's an A300 in similar (not identical) scheme that already left BEY. Another A321 with identical scheme is still being worked on by MASCO at the moment and will be ready soon.
