Korean Air's A380 Service Will Be Delayed Until 2010
By Seonjin Cha

Korean Air Lines Co., South Korea's largest carrier, said it will first start flying the Airbus SAS A380 in 2010, two years behind schedule.

The airline reiterated it will seek compensation for the delay in delivery, said Lee Soo Keun, vice president for purchasing at an event in Seoul.

''We will fill the gap caused by the delay in delivery by leasing or purchasing other aircraft,'' said Woo Keehong, vice president for strategy at Korean Air.

We will see, but I won't be surprised to see them cancel in favor of 773ER and/or 748. If that happens, the deposits could be used for a few extra A330s.

The fact that they're not getting planes in 2008 is not a suprise (has anyone seen the delivery schedules recently!) what is good news is that they're not cancelling.

All the customers is considering the compensation, how much Airbus will pay?
This mean that if Airbus paid the customer, the A380 program is not profitable at all at least for a decade
