SIA And CX At ZRH

Mon Jul 10, 2000 4:07 am

Hello,

I know both airline are present at Zurich Kloten. Could anyone tell me moreabout them?
What aircraft they ever operated? When did they open their respective routes? When did they upgrade frequencies?

Thank you very much,

Best regards,

SIA flies daily to ZRH with a Boeing 747-400 Megatop. Cathay Pacific flies 4 times weekly to ZRH with Airbus A340 and from october 7, they will add one weekly flight for a total of 5 weekly flights (ex. tuesday and thursday). All CX flights to ZRH are operated in Code-share with Swissair. Swissair flies also 5 weekly flights to Hong Kong. Both carrier flies for already a long time to ZRH. Also Thai Airways flies daily with MD 11 to ZRH and Malaysian Airlines 4 times weekly with Boeing 777 and Japan Airlines flies also 4 times with MD 11. All ZRH flights with Malaysian, Thai and Jal are in code-sharing with Swissair.

Swiss-airplane is absolutly right. Only some remarks: JAL often changes aircraft and comes sometimes with 743 or 744 instead of MD 11. In the last few weeks I have seen both (743,744) in ZRH. SR has also 5 weekly to Tokyo (total 9 weekly in code-share) and a daily flight to Osaka (in code-share with JAL).
As mentioned Thay comes daily but SR has also a daily flight to BKK so you have 14 weekly in code-share.

Also Korean Airlines serves ZRH. Twice weekly they fly SEL-ZRH-ROM-SEL.
But this with JAL is false. On the days both JAL and Swissair fly form ZRH-NRT (Thrusday /Saturday) they don't codeshare! So both carriers have a daily flight to Zurich from Narita.

SR: ZRH --> BKK

SR operates its own flights from ZRH to BKK 9 times a week. Four continue to SIN, 3 to Taipei and 2 to SGN. This is in addition to code-sharing on TG's daily flight. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Several times a month it also happens that Cathay or Thai use the 744.
Not long ago it was reported that SIA wanted to start twice daily flights to Zurich one with an A340 the other with the 744.

And the SIA 744 usually arrives really early in the morning after the aiport opens.

Thai: it happened during winter season 98/99, where about half of the flights were scheduled on B744, but they changed back to MD-11 only (technical reasons may need a B744)

Cathay: CX changed to A343 som 2 or 3 years ago. Since then, there wasn't normal scheduled flight on anything else to ZRH. The last CX B744 was seen in ZRH some weeks ago, after a CX A343 had to stay at ZRH after engine problems. So the B744 coming of AMS made a stop at ZRH on its way to HKG.

Are you sure about that second flight?? WOW! That would be great, but I never heard about that one. And now belonging to Star, I don't believe, we will see a second daily SIA-flight out of ZRH.

I think you are wrong. According to Swissair's timetable they operate 7 times a week and not 9 times with their own aircrafts to Bankok, three continue to Teipei and four to Singapore.

I think you are wrong. JAL and Swissair DO codeshare between ZRH and NRT: SR flys on 14567 and JAL on 23 between ZRH and NRT. The JAL flight has the SR No. 9670.

ZRH...wrong

Mon Jul 10, 2000 10:26 pm

ZRH:
Yes, but JAL also has flights on Thursday and Saturday on the route NRT-ZRH! And on this days (both carriers fly ZRH-NRT) the flights are NOT CODESHARED.

O.k. we missunderstood. I understood that you wanted to say that JAL an SR do not have any code-share flights.
