Reggio Calabria Vs Kai Tak

Mon Jul 10, 2000 7:13 am

Which one is more dangerous and challage for pilots. Although Kai Tak is a memory now. But I wonder what are the opinions of other people. I stick with Kai Tak as more dangerous and challenging approach. Kai Tak handled the biggest and heaviest birds in sky today.

Well...Reggio Calabria (LICR ) is in Italy. It also has a curved approach. The runway od 33. The difference is that the aircraft make a left turn to land. But the approach area is not densely populated as Kai Tak was.

Looking at the charts it doesn't look much harder although there is less runway at Calabria, if you want to see a hard one take a look at Funchal in portugal...it has a 5000 some odd foot runway, and a curved app on one end and a cliff at the other end.....

Can anyone tell me where I can get approach plates of these airports? I have Kai Tak but where could I get one for Reggio Calabria for instance and are they free?
Feel free to email me if necessary at B747Jet@aol.com.
Thanks.
