F9 And The 318

Tue Nov 21, 2006 3:54 am

After reading the discussion about RO and the 318 I was wondering about how the 318 is working for F9. IIRC the CEO of F9 was very pleased with them with the only problem being that not enough are with other airlines for resale/parts value. Any updates?

February 06, Frontier expanded it's orders with Airbus by ordering more A320 family.

http://www.usatoday.com/travel/flights/2006-02-23-frontier-a320_x.htm

This included changing 4 x A319 orders to 4 x A320 and an addtional 4 x A319 orders were changed to 4 x A318.

The next A318 (the eighth in the fleet) arrives in February (or March) 07, building up to a total of 11.

My anecdotal experience is that for some strange reason the F9 flight attendants are even more cheerful than normal when working the "baby bus."  Smile

The 318s work very well for F9. The seats have been filled every time I have ridden one of the baby busses, and right now F9 seems to be focused more on the A318 and the A320 then the A319 which had been more their bread and butter.

Could that be due to the lesser number of passengers to attend to and the shorter cabin aisle to walk?  Smile

I think it will continue to be so. Yes, the order linked above swaps some A319 for A318 and A320 ending up with:

http://www.findarticles.com/p/articl..._m0QXQ/is_2006_Feb_27/ai_n16115450

"Delivery of the carrier's first A320 is scheduled for 2008, with deliveries continuing through 2011 by which time it will operate 11 A318s, 49 A319s and 10 A320s."

But since then, on one of the cc's, they have said they plan to lease some additional A319's.
