I was checking out asian routes and frequencies, when I noticed this.
There are only 4 weekly flights between MNL and CGK! It's on PR and it's operated by A333 via SIN(!!!).
Maybe I'm the only one who thinks this is wierd. But my point is, Jakarta and Manila are the two biggest cities in southeast asia with populations of 17m respectively 15m (depending on how you count ofcourse, and let us not turn this into a fight about citypopulations), and still there are only 4 flights/week, who aren't even non-stop!
I know routes aren't totally driven by population in the cities, it's more about 'contact' (business/ethnic/tourism), and thats why there are like ten daily ,mostly widebody, MNL-HKG or CGK-SIN.
But still! Aren't those two cities big enough to have at least one daily non-stop widebody, even though there are not much contact?
So, my question is; Whats the reason to this? Is it the lack of aircraft at PR and GA? Wolud they have had more flights if they had more equipment? Or is it something else that I've missed?
Any comments appreciated
