My gfriend flew out tuesday Nov 21 from DTW to PUS on NW.
The routing is as follows: DTW to NRT (NW 11 / 25) connect to PUS (NW29)
Now this is what happened:
Flight NW11 had mechanical problems in DTW so passengers were put on NW 25... Delay about 1.5 hours.
Yep, that screws up the exact connecting time to catch the flght to PUS.
Upon arrival in NRT (10 min before scheduled departure), my gfriend sees an empty gate. Where is the plane? It Departed 10 minuted before scheduled departure.
Now, is this common where the connecting airline leaves earlier, knowing that about 10 connecting pax will be a few minutes late? Any explanation on this?
Pax were rescheduled from NRT to ICN (With an evening layover as there was no more flight to PUS). For the rest, all went smooth. On arrival in ICN, pax were put up in a hotel along with transportation provided to GMP, where the journey would continue to PUS.
The next morning, pax went back to ICN to pickup there new tickets/seat assignments. While there, there isn't anyone able to assit with the stranded pax. Now, from now on everything is in hands of KE, right?
Finally someone was found who was able to help, and my gfriend now comes to find out that they did not have a confirmed reschedule on the first flight out of GMP to PUS (Now why didn't the pax get put on a flight at ICN to PUS? and had to go all the way to GMP to connect?
Alright, so whose fault is it here? NW or KE... or Skyteam overall for the accomodation and proper rescheduling of pax?
Finally after 2 or 3 hours they were able to go confirmed on flight EK5GV8 from GMP to PUS.
Compensation for all of this:
- 2000 WorldPerk miles
- $50 off towards any trip purchased at a price over $200.
- And then there was a one night hotel + Transportation (not sure if food was included)...
So what do you think of the compensation, when they should have arrived at 8pm on Wed, but arrived at 1pm on Thu?
Is it fair to receive 2000 miles and then not be able to use it, as my gfriend hardly flies. or Get a lousy $50 for about 12/13 hrs time lost jumping and hopping around, when NW 29 could have maybe waited 10 min past scheduled time to take everyone. How much does it cost NW for the time waisted/hotel costs/transporation for about 10 pax versus waiting/delaying a flight 10 or 15min extra and then taking everyone to PUS without a further hassel?
Any feedback on this is greatly appreciated.
