QR should really setup a task force one of these days to streamline the schedules. Too many different schedules on different days for certain destinations make for a very asymmetric setup, which has been shown through research to be less favorable in attracting premium traffic.

Other than that, QR will be the first Middle Eastern airline in Denpasar-Bali, and it will be interesting to see how they will fare over there. I guess they might get their hands on some of the package tourism from Europe which now is very often routed through SQ.

I never understood why QR has so many different departuretimes for its destinations...... sounds like a complicated affair.

It is because they are either:

a) short of aircraft,
b) can't secure the required landing slots, and/or
c) have limited air services entitlements to the destinations they fly to

Therefore, they offer a split schedule to try and offer a minimum of 2-3 connecting services per week across their network..

That is pretty much the reason for it...

You are right, of course, but this situation is far from commercially desirable. It has been shown over and over again in marketing research studies that, in order to attract the much covetted premium traffic, daily frequencies according to consistent and symmetric schedules are an absolute necessity. QR's scheduling is erratic, to say the least.

I was hoping that QR would get rid of the [pax A300 and convert them into cargo from 2007, as the original plan was. Looks like the A300s are here to stay. Does anyone know when the planes will leave the fleet?

Will the A300's be replaced in the near future with the 330s?

Does anyone have details of the Malaysia-Qatar air services agreement.
Is QR limited to 3pw beyond to Indonesia only, or is the limit 3pw beyond to anywhere??

Are Malaysia's air service agreements available online?
