Sun Nov 26, 2006 4:31 am

Will be doing my annual x'mas and new years trip again at the end of the year to Vegas.....was wanting to do an air tour of the Grand Canyon (been almost 12 years since I last saw it), which company gives a good value combo of airplane and helicopter...plus a cruise on the pontoon boat...so far what I see are prices around USD350+ ...websites of tour companies appreciated....btw..will also post after the trip my flight to the USA...going in via LAX on TG's 345 in J.

Thanks again guys !!!!

I used http://www.grandcanyontourcompany.com recently and I know they were cheaper than other companies for the very same flight.

I have forgotten the company I went with...

We did not book ours until we was in Las Vegas and used one of the leaflets we found in our hotel room (Sahara Casino).

I can't remember the name it was something like Rainbow Tours...

We got a really good deal and paid $189 USD about 2 years ago... It included pick-ups from the hotel to some small airport about 20mins from Las Vegas (think ot was near Boulder City), and then flew to an airport in an 8 seater on the edge of the canyon and this helecopter flew shuttles down to the Canyon. Went on a raft trip down the Colarado and was in the Canyon for about 1 hour and flew us back up and then had this BBQ lunch on this cliff top with amazing views over the Canyon and flew back. Trip lasted about 5hrs and flew over the Hoover Dam.

If anyone else recognises this trip the tour companies name may be helpful. It was definately cheaper than getting a helicopter all the way (these ranged between $300-400 USD) and by them operating the trip in larger groups it kept the cost down for everyone. And still had an amazing day with great views.

I will take a look at prices for you if you can provide me with dates. I actually worked in LAS and sold many packages to the Grand Canyon for different companies. If your feeling adventerous, and want to pay a few extra bucks, I would suggest the helicopter tour! That was an experience I will NEVER forget.

Heli USA was once able to land next to the Colorado River, and the pilot would serve a champagne brunch! I took that tour, and was amazed. They state they will go 1500 feet below the canyon rim, so that is still an experience in itself. The chopper ride is smooth, and awesome. The pilot will sometimes do some fancy tricks for you.

Scenic is also a treat. They fly the Twotter, and that would be a fun experience for you. Eagle/Scenic used to fly the F-27, but I have not seen them anymore. Maybe someone can open the can on this question.

Well worth the visit. The Grand Canyon looks like a hole in a picture, but unbelievable in person. I about urinated myself when I looked down from the rim of the canyon. Not recommended for anyone afraid of heights! LOL!

F9Animal...Thanks to the wonderful terrorists of the world, the F-27's died with the remainder of all the other old airliners flying in the U.S....The cockpit door mod was about 200K per a/c, making it an unjustified expenditure on these old birds. That is why we no longer see pax Convairs, Electras (yes, Renown still had a 99 pax airworthy type available for charter) and everything else that was good. These jerks have ruined the historical aspect for all of you that never got the chance to fly these great machines.
