Flights Still Landing In TLV?

Thu Nov 30, 2006 6:39 am

Since Flyertalk is down, this is the best place I could think to ask. Does anyone in Israel know if flights are still being allowed to land in TLV right now? Last I heard, flights were still coming in, but with no baggage service until the strike is over. I want to know if that's just for flights that were still in the air or not. I'm on CO90 tonight, and they haven't canceled it yet...I'm not sure if I should get a move on for a replacement flight though...

I am not in israel but yes all aircraft which were airborne before the strke started or received special permission were allowed to carry their flight on and land at TLV. And on all those flights that still arrived the cargo remainesin the plane. If there will be no anouncement of the strike to end by the time your flight will arrive in TLV your flight will be delayed or cancelled.

Well then...I'm guess I'm stuck waiting until nearer departure time. CO is still not saying anything, which means I am probably heading to the airport, checking bags, going through security...for nothing. *sigh*

It's about the airport strike at TLV and Lemurs would like to know if his Continental flight will dpeart tonight to TLV or not. He is on flight 90 and flight 84 is the first daily flight leaving earlier and this one got canceled.

Thanks LXA340. When I hear the word "strike" used in the context of the Middle East, I always worry about military strike sorties!

Israeli court ordered to end the general strike effective immidiately. So I think I will be on tomorrows LY008 after all.

Not that it helps me much.  Sad

-No availability on tomorrow's 84.
-Tomorrow's 90 lands during the Sabbath.
-84 on Saturday is during Sabbath here in NJ.
-90 on Saturday is sold out, as it quite often is.

That means I am rescheduled on 84 on Sunday, and there goes 3.5 days of my 8 day vacation, stuck in NJ. Quite simply THE worst day they could have picked to strike in terms of total time inconvenienced. Why not strike on a Sunday? *sigh*
