A Question To All Japanese Friends ( ANA )

Sun Dec 03, 2006 12:55 am

Hello ,

I need some help,

I arrive with LH to NGO at 09:30 and as I travel with my brother, he works as LH
flight attendant we want to make a Day-Trip to Tokyo , Do I have 75 % of discount as familiar of Employee the same as with LH and other Star Alliance Members?

And is it possible to fly NGO-Tokyo at the morning and return the evening?

Thank You for all answers!

There are only two flights between NGO-TYO that are bookable only on that segment. The two flights leave in the morning and mid-afternoon from NGO and from NRT in mid-morning and early evening.
To answer your question: NO. Because the morning flight would have left before you arrive at NGO.
You can always take the expensive (relatively speaking) Shinkansen-Bullet train.

I'm pretty sure that you can travel Y on NH if you're an LH, UA or AC employee. Don't know about the others. F and J class travel are absolutely off-limits, even to NH employees in most cases.

Well my brother as LH employee flies with all IATA airline for 90% discount , he pays 10% , but I as his brother I fly just with ALL Star Alliance members for 75 %
discount I pay 25% , so this should also work with NH.

not correct, only discount for ZED-member airlines, there are still plenty of airlines were LH employees did not get any non-rev tickets...

http://www.japanrail.com/JR_shinkansen.html

NOZOMI trains are just the most modern, super bullet shinkansen trains. just ask for them when buying the ticket in nagoya. don't buy a JR railpass as it is NOT valid on these trains.

when in nagoya, make sure to have coffee in the coffee shop on the highest floor of the station  Smile great view! another must is the castle. if you like fish, they have a nice aquarium there, too.

if you have any more questions about nagoya, kyoto or japan (from a tourists point of view), just PM me.

Very hard to get rebate tickets on ANA, I do the checking for ANA in CDG but it's impossible to get a free ticket to NRT.

Non-reving on ANA is very difficult. If Y is full you can't non-rev, even with C and F are still unavailable.

Forget about the plane between NGO and HND. Take the train, go to Kyoto and enjoy the place.

Off topic but I'll be on NH205 on the first of January. PM me if you work on that day.

When are you coming?
This weekend? January? Today?

Nozomi Shinkansen leave NGO every 30 minutes. So your chances of getting on one are good.

From NGO
Take the Meitetsu to Shin Nagoya Station
Change to the JR line.
There is a JR ticket office at the far end of JR Nagoya Station You can purchase there.
There are unreserved seats and reserved. Cost difference is not big.
Take train to Kyoto.
At Kyoto Station go to the bus office and get the one day free train pass. I think it is 500 yen and lets you ride as many buses as you want in one day.
They have maps in many languages.
Visit Nijojo, Kinkakuji, and Kiyomizudera in that order or in reverse. (My recommendations) You can add in Ryoanji too as it is only a 20 minute walk from Kinkakukji. All of this can be done in one day with time for movement. I have done Nijojo and Kinkakuji in a half day on a weekend with no problems.

Make sure you write a report and take photos. Let's get the NGO photo database updated... it is small. Keep your eye on the cargo apron. Lots of plane parts moving around on Volga.
