Chatauqua will be flying CRJs for CO out of IAH. This is official on the schedule as of 01/30, they will be flying IAH to COS, IND, MSP, TUS, OKC, and SDF (thanks flyertalk and CO schedule)
I guess they couldn't find enough ERJs after all  Sad

FYI,

The first CO (Connection, Express, fill in the blank) CRJ made an appearance on the 28th of November at IAH, to do some gate testing. N656BR was the plane involved, painted in basic CO colors, minus the globe on the tail and the titles, hence the fill in the blank reference.
Had the number 452 on the top of the flight deck, likely the CO fleet number...

The schedule for TUS shows only one of the daily ERJ flights to IAH being replaced with the CRJ and the 3 daily mainline flights to IAH remaining.

Aren't they flying CRJs out of CLE too?

I believe Chautauqua will be flying under the Express banner, not Connection.

I looked here on A.net and couldn't find that they were using CRJs, I thought the plan was just ERjs.
I can't find any CRJs out of CLE at this point, at least for 01/30

Everything I've heard is that the CRJs will remain out of IAH, but then again, things can change.
The CLE changes will be with Commutair upgrading their fleets with Dash 8-200s that they are getting from Horizon.

I have heard the same thing.....but do look for some realignment and adjustments in regional flying out of all three CO hubs in the coming months.

As I understand it, the Connection banner is used for flights operated by turboprops (i.e. Colgan Air or Gulfstream International Airlines), while Express is reserved for flights operated by jetliners (i.e. ExpressJet).

The ERJs for CHAUTAUQUA for CO start very end of January too i think 28th or 29th they will serve STL 2x daily, MCI 1x daily and CMH 1x daily, I cannot find the final city pair I know I am missing 1 RT on the ERJ because the one airplane wont sit in IAH from 1338 to 1735 (weekends run slightly reduced). All os in and out of Houston for now. The CRJs will run MSP 2x, COS 3x, TUS 1x, SDF 2x, and IND 1x.

We are operating 20 E145's and 24 CR2's. I have a pic of N638BR on MyAviation.net. We will be operating as COEX not COCOnnection. SDF and IAH will be the CRJ bases and SDF/STL will be the E145 bases. No flying out of CLE as of right now. We are operating for a short while on the US side with the CR2's. I have to go thru the CRJ transition training next week.

Expressjet is not getting rid of any of their planes. Continental is getting rid of 69 of Expresssjet's ERJ's and replacing them with 44 Chat-caca jets which will be a mix of CRJ's and ERJ's and will operate under the "Continental Express" brand. I reiterate, these 44 planes will be operated by Chat-caca, not Expressjet. Now you can travel in extreme CRJ comfort with a 50 seat jet weight restricted to 40 on a CO flight to COS or TUS! Continental Express no longer means ExpressJet....it means either Chat-caca or Expressjet (depending on the flight)....for now. This is similair to the way Delta operates Delta Connection with Comair, ASA, Mesa, and Chat-caca (and whoever else bids lowest next year).

Expressjet will be subleasing from Continental the 69 ERJ's withdrawn from Continental Express and will be using them for endeavours outside the Continental brand. 15 of them will be used as dedicated charter aircraft. They haven't made public what they intend to do with the other 54, other than the fact that they are bidding on Delta, Frontier, and Midwest RFP's.

ExpressJet is doing neither. Chautauqua is adding CRJs because they don't have 44 ERJs to spare for the CO contract.

I fly IND - IAH and VV all of the time. . This really is a pitty, I cannot stand CRJ-200's or Chataqua . Express jet is actually an enjoyable ride. I will be booking my tickets on the 735 out of indy on the evening flight, unless they are replacing that too, if so, southwest, here i come!

If I were an XJET employee or shareholder, I would be more than a little concerned that they are getting their "first" ERJ at the end of this month and the company hasn't yet stated what they are doing with 80% of them.

Write a letter to Continental managment and let them know, that is all I can tell you.

I don't see how worrying will benefit anyone. If they don't win any RFP's then they will probably try to fly point to point routes under their own brand. Judging from your past posts I already know how you feel about RJ CASM, etc, so no need to rehash that. Honestly the alternative is worse: giving a quarter of your fleet to a direct competitor (which is what Continental wanted)? How would that benefit the employees or the shareholders?

I think CHQ is very good. I have spoken to a number of their crews and they have said no negative things. I hope CHQ replaces the COEX flt to IAH and CLE from MCO. ( we get one daily ex flt to those cities mentioned above).

Xpressjet will still be flying ERJs for CO under the COEX banner, however they are no longer the sole provider of COEX service.

Chatuqua will be flying 44 aircraft for COEX (24 CRJ-200s, 20 ERJ-145s)

Expressjet will be flying 185 ERJ-145 (XR, LR, ER etc) and 30 ERJ-135 for COEX.

The vast majority of Regional jet flying for COEX will still be Expressjet, COEX will have a total of 259 Regional jet aircraft (44 Chatuqua and 215 Expressjet).

274 Regional jets now, 259 in the future.

Hopefully they will consider upgrading some regional Jet flying out of EWR with 737-300s, 737-500s. They could replace two ERJ-145 flights with one 737 flight.

CHAUTAUQUA is how you spell the airline name. I agree the CRJs stink, we gave CO the option and they chose the ERJ/CRJ split so they could have a less costly product.

ExpressJet ERJ works for Chat-CaCa, not Expressjet. Why he/she has that screenmane, I don't know.

Who will accept Expressjet's bids? I don't know, perhaps a company like Midwest who is willing to pay a little bit more for quality and high completion factor? Even if they don't find RFP's to operate under they will try and make a go of it on their own.

Once again, the airline's name is Chautauqua Airlines. Spelled au-au-ua. Not Chit-CaCa, or any other mangling of Chautauqua.

Bitter, party of one. Your table is ready.

Both Continental and Chautauqua saw a good business opportunity, and executed it. Unfortunately, ExpressJet did not and chose to go their own way. Don't hold that against us.

As an Jetlink employee, this is a very bitter pill for me to swallow. It's especially ironic since I used to work for ACA/Independence and their acft are following me to IAH.

Quoting UN_B732 (Thread starter):

Good luck filling all 50 CR2 seats on runs to COS and TUS. Those things will fly like pigs out of hot and high airports. MSP will be a nice little stretch for them too.

XJet's XRJ's do just fine out of DEN. Depending on where the jetstream is, there might be a slight payload hit going westbound, but I don't remember too many denied boardings.

Extreme CRJ comfort...what a joke...I know you mean discomfort! It's really a shame that we're losing business to whoever wants to practically fly for free. But I guess that's the way the airline industry works these days...no loyalty, just dollars and cents and the bottom line.

This sentiment is felt among many of my co-workers in ExpressJet...at least in my department. In fact, there has been quite a shortage of reliable, official information about the near (and distant) future for the company. Communication from the top about this has been practically nonexistent about this. Numerous dates for announcements have come and gone, and as time goes on, the less we hear, the more we worry.

You could of had MESA or TSA flying for CO. We are a quality provider of excellent service. We definitely were not the lowest bidder. All of you XJT folks bitch and moan, but when you need a ride you are so humble. Remember the decisions are made in the boardroom not on the frontline.

We'll see how happy you are when your flying goes out for bid and your job and career track are on the chopping block as a result. Work hard, try and do the best you can for the company, and be rewarded by being told your job is being outsourced. Make no mistake about it. Regional flying is about outsourcing.

How can you write a letter saying you prefer Expressjet's service over Chautauqua's when Chautauqua hasn't even started flying for CO yet? I know this is going to be a hard pill to swallow, but maybe you all should at the very least TRY Chautauqua under the CO banner before screaming bloody murder. Talk about being ridiculous, I mean it could be much worse: CO could have gone with Mesa.

You're not the only one going through this. In fact, we've gone through it as well. We've been losing our Florida flying (and 50 seat flying, in general) for Delta to Freedom for over a year now.

But I don't think DL is too happy with Freedom, so maybe you'll get the Florida flying back at some point.

For those who are interested...

As the airplanes separate from CO flying, ExpressJet will have their own colors revealed in the short future, titles, logos, etc. Looked quite nice, dignified.

Thanks for the bad news...I hate those CR2s.

They both suck!

Write all you want pal, bottom line is it is done...over...fat lady has sung! Just wait till you give those CHQ folks a takeoff clearance after a weather reroute or something abnormal and they have no idea what you told them, don't give them to me on departure, I'll send em back at ya! It will be ugly AND then there is the CRJ fleet, NOT.

And, can't wait for the CHQ or BTA being followed on a visual by the other! Can you say whoops, missed the highspeed and am going to the end....GO AROUND! Yep, great idea to have both of the flying Express flights or whatever they will call them. I may have to quit!!!!!!!!
