McDonnell Douglas Concept / A-320 Design Roots?

Mon Dec 04, 2006 2:38 am

In the mid 1970's McDonnell Douglas conceptualized the DC-XX which was a 150 seater airliner to replace the 727, working with MacDac was Aerospatiale, and a bunch of other European companies.

Eventually the French industry pulled out completely. Does anybody know what year that was, and what caused the French to drop out? Additionally, if anybody knows, is that when Airbus started gearing up to design the A-320?
