Since When Is Aeromexico Flying Into SJO?

Mon Dec 04, 2006 3:49 pm

I was previously under the impression that only MX flies into SJO, but after checking the arrivals and departures on SJO's website and the airline's website, I noticed that AM has now service to SJO and their departure times are almost the same as those for MX's service, though specific frequencies are somewhat different.

Anyone know since when AM has started flying into SJO? And is this service yearround or seasonal for the winter season?

I don't think AM flies to Costa Rica. Actually, I don't think AM serves any Central American city. That's Mexicana's domain.

Then why is the flight bookable on AM's website? Is it perhaps some kind of codeshare with another airline, maybe even with MX?

According to SABRE, it is a MX/AM codeshare using MX metal.

OK, thanks. I still think that SJO's website, along with AM's website should have made it clear that it was a codeshare. If there was any indication of that on AM's website, I must have missed that somehow.

they don't make codeshares clears, they usually just put both flights together and you only see a change in the flight number. But they are right, MX is the only one that flies to SJO. AM is not even close from Central America.

Nooo you are all wrong! AM does fly scheduled charters to SJO every Sunday, arriving at 11:55pm, and departing around 1:05am with the 737-700 as equipment.

It is true MX has a codeshare with AM on the daily 387/386 flight from MEX with a 752 (sometimes A320) but the one Richie is talking about is actually an AM flight operate with AM metal. The flight number is 6423/6424. Check AM's site this Sunday night and also Alterra's website (www.alterra.co.cr/fiws) Sunday night and see for yourselves.

I have also seen this plane over my house and it is clearly a 73G.

Wait, I actually have a screenshot of the flight in AMX's site, since I flew this one on Flight Simulator and had to show some evidence it did happen:

Its the last flight and you can clearly see its separated from the MX codeshare flights.

Cheers!
Tomas.
