DL 74 ATL MXP 17.25 08.40 (1234567) 763

DL 75 MXP ATL 11.00 15.35 (1234567) 763

This should be on a 764. But the schedules are still early so maybe DL will upgrade.
It is what it is...

With this schedule, will Delta offer more U.S.- Italy flights than AZ? DL certainly offers the most number of US flights from FCO (and of course VCE and PSA since AZ doesn't fly transatlantic out of the latter two).

I've counted AZ's Italy - US flights next summer as follows:

1 FCO-EWR
2 FCO-JFK
1 FCO-BOS
1 MXP-JFK
1 MXP-EWR
1 MXP-MIA
1 MXP-ORD
1 MXP-BOS

This should indeed be the case, unless of course AZ adds another flight. Seat capacity-wise, that'll be an interesting question, as AZ should normally have at least 2 777 flights to JFK. That said, I don't know how many seats AZ has on its 763s and 777s, so I can't compare the numbers.

At least during the summer Italy (10 flights) seems to be the most served country in Europe by DL and Rome (5 daily flights) as well is becoming one of the most important airports in the Old Continent for DL.

DL 32 CVG-FCO 19.30 10.45 (1234567) 764
DL 33 FCO-CVG 10.30 15.15 (1234567) 764

DL 76 ATL-FCO 16.40 08.25 (1234567) 764
DL 77 FCO-ATL 12.45 17.55 (1234567) 764

Looks like these aircraft do a scissors in FCO.

DL32 from CVG turns around and becomes DL77 back to ATL.
DL76 from ATL turns around and becomes DL33 back to CVG.

Quoting Nycfly75 (Thread starter):
DL 148 JFK-FCO 17.10 07.55 (1234567) 763
DL 149 FCO-JFK 13.25 17.10 (1234567) 763

DL 70 ATL-FCO 19.20 11.10 (1234567) 763
DL 71 FCO-ATL 10.05 15.20 (1234567) 763

These two flights as well swap.

DL148 from JFK turns around and becomes DL71 back to ATL.
DL70 from ATL turns around and becomes DL149 back to JFK.

Best time to spot Delta in Rome will be from 0955 to 1005 When 3 Aircraft are on the ground at the same time.
Next best time will be thankfully longer, from 1110 to 1245 when again, FCO will have 3 Delta Aircraft on the ground at the same time!

Otherwise, most of the day, from 0825 until 1245 there are at least 2 Delta Aircraft on the ground at any one time.

Exciting stuff!

yep by about 1000 seats a week given:

DL has about 14000 seats/week (6 daily 763, 2 daily 764 and 2x4weekly 763)
AZ has about 15400 seats/week (4 daily 777, 3 daily 763 and 2x5weekly 763)

Close tho and amazing that DL is almost up there in terms of flights to Italy. Will be interesting to see DL's next Italian announcement

Will DL be using the reconfigured 764's with BizE on these routes?

As a side note, will all the 764's on the TATL flights have been reconfigured by then?

The 764s on these routes will not be reconfigured and will be sold as all coach. The two aircraft do a scissor rotation as someone above mentioned.

DL can route BE traffic through ATL on the later flight and on both of JFKs flights.

From what I've heard the reconfigured 764s will be flying:

ATL-CDG
ATL-LGW
ATL-FRA

and possibly on JFK-LGW depending on how the flight goes...

FCO-JFK (AZ 610/611)
FCO-EWR (AZ 644/645)

So far, it looks like the reconfigured, BE-equipped 764s will already start flying this winter on:
ATL-CDG (DL22/21) - starting in January 2007
ATL-EZE (DL101/110) - starting in mid-February 2007

though DL22/21 on the 764 is only loaded through February so far.

For the summer, DL114 ATL-BCN has been designated so far for the BE-equipped 764s.

But as mentioned multiple times, these are all subject to change....

MIA-MXP does not convert to the "summer schedule" until the end of April (and returns to the winter schedule one month early as well, at the start of October), so for one month, it is a 772 before going to a 767 for May-September.

Hadn't heard about BCN or EZE, thanks for the info. I'm still wondering when the TLV switch is going to happen...

Also - the 763 configs may change on DL given some movement up front...

I assume the wink means there will be one? If it's a new city, the only city left I can think of is Naples. Otherwise, it must be a flight from MXP-CVG?

Are they changing back to 48 seats up front with the mini cabin? That mini cabin was great with BE seats. Maybe put those extra Y seats they added on the TWA 757's and I'm sure they have some BE seats left over from the change to 36 seats a few years ago with a refreshed seat cover. Well, that's my guess.
The proper term is "on final" not "on finals" bud...

ATLMUC is slated to get a BizElite 764 in the spring which probably says it will stay through the summer.

Most of the 764 summer schedule has not yet been released.

Yes, ATL-NCE is not returning - started cannibalizing JFK-NCE somewhat last summer; also didn't do too well on its own.

I am surprised to see ATL-SNN back though (DL156) together with the new nonstop JFK-SNN (DL102) standalone, (and both so far using the unconverted 'sold as all-Y" 764s), that's a lot of capacity to dump onto SNN. I believe ATL-SNN also struggled somewhat last summer.

Napoli is also Italy's 3rd Largest City

It would be nice to see them go south of Roma one day...maybe even Sicilia, there is certainly the population, but probably not the income. Income starts high in the north and gets lower as one goes south. (Napoli is notorious as a pick-pocket-paradiso.....scares some potential tourism away which is too bad as it is the gateway to Pompeii, Herculaneum, Mt Vesuvius, Positano, and the Amalfi Coast which is to die for beautiful!)

Torino, Genova, and the Bologna conurbation deserve consideration as much as Naples, plus they are business centers if not the huge tourist draws Delta has chosen for their new Italian line-up.

Here is a list of Italy's Largest Cities (NOT-Metro Areas)

In Millions: [Cities over 150,000]

2.649 Roma
1.306 Milano
1.047 Napoli
0.921 Torino
0.689 Palermo (Sicilia)
0.656 Genova
0.386 Bologna (Parma/Modena)
0.382 Firenze (Livorno[Pisa])
0.341 Catania (Sicilia)
0.335 Bari
0.297 Venezia
0.262 Messina (Sicilia)/(Reggio di Calabria)
0.254 Verona (Brescia)
0.252 Trieste
0.212 Taranto
0.190 Brescia (Verona)
0.180 Reggio di Calabria (Messina)
0.174 Modena (Bologna/Parma)
0.173 Cagliari (Sardinia)
0.168 Prato (Firenze Metro)

Add the metro areas and Napoli moves up quite ahead! Would be nice to see DL in Naples.

Well some has to instigate, maybe DL IS getting ready to become Italy's airline to the US once AZ.......... Kidding of course...

Or with the rumors of LH and China/CX and all, maybe DL is solidifying Italy for SkyTeam.

Actually, that thinking is not that far off. By launching more non-FCO/MXP routes, DL allows Italians outside those cities regions to get to the US nonstop meaning one less stop plus connection time, which no doubt positions Delta well as a good alternative to Alitalia, even more so if DL is indeed to add a 5th destination in Italy.

I have been reading in Business Weekly and in other news mag. that AZ is not doing to well. They are lossing their own goverments backing. The goverment is selling off they shares of the airline and at the same time they are about to lay off a large number of employees. Maybe DL is stepping in to take part or all of the AZ pass. Just a thought.

NAP only has an 8600 foot runway which is why they are unlikely to attract TATL service.
