Dropped US-Mexico Regional Routes

Thu Dec 07, 2006 6:26 am

Since I don't know how to delete double posting, I figured I'd start a different topic.

A few US airlines started adding regional jet service between the US to Mexico, only to drop them rather quickly. I know that CO, HP(US) are among these carriers that have dropped routes, but can we create a list of these?

Well CO flew San Antonio-Mexico City for a while IIRC but I don't remember if it was mainline or regional? Anyone?

Is AeroLitoral still flying CUU-ELP? It was going strong when I moved out of ELP in 1999...however I fear ELP may have lost it's only scheduled international pax flights  Sad

DL used to have 3 RJ routes from DFW to Mexico. Those 3 were DFW-MEX (opb Comair) 3x daily CRJ service (why CRJ on such a route, no idea), DFW-MTY (opb ASA) 2x daily CRJ service (reasonable) and DFW-Puebla (opb Comair) 1x daily CRJ service (never understood this one).

COEx flew IAH-HMO and IAH-ZCL from 1999 to 2000. Eagle also flew AGU-DFW and SLW-DFW in 2002, IIRC. I think those routes have been dropped as well.

Eagle still flies AGU/DFW. I see Eagle's Erjs flying overhead from time to time. Actually it is one flight a day right now, leaves AGU at 7am.

HP used to fly PHX-MTY

There were also brief services with Aerolitoral in the following routes:

MTY-HRL
MTY-Austin
Piedras Negras-SAT

Aeromar used to fly SLP-SAT
Next flight: IAH-DBX-MRU-ANT

Don't forget about CO's short-lived LAX-QRO, which operated during the summer of 2005.

Eagle still flies AGU-DFW daily. I don't know if they have ever flown SLW-DFW, but they have not flown it in at least five years.

Not sure about the HMO-TUS, but the HMO-PHX is flown by a 737, a friend took that flight not so long ago.
CO started 3 routes last year those were SAT-MEX, LRD-MEX and MFE-MEX until now the only route that still operated is MFE-MEX and I hope it dosen't stop operating, I travel every vacation time to the Rio Grande Valley Area, once I did not find seats on that flight and have to fly to MAM (Matamoros, in the border) and well all I can said is what a horrible experience MAM is ugly, nothing like a direct flight into the US.
Cheers!

Shortly after they first recieved the CRJs, 9E flew from MEM to one city in Mexico. I want to say it was MTY. The route didn't last very long.

It seems AA is using American Eagle more and more for Mexico flights. DFW-GDL used to be 2 Daily MD-80 and one Daily RJ145, however since the beginning of the winter timetable its 1 MD-80 and 2 RJ-145.

Yes, 5D still flies daily to TUS from HMO, and there is a rumour for a GYM-TUS service.-

I hope that a company that is still doing this decides to make a LAX-ESE flight since the drive is just unbearable.

The Hermosillo-Tucson daily flight is flown by Aerolitoral. It is flown by a 37 seat Saab.
