A380 MSN007 F-WWSD Re-registered?

Sun Dec 10, 2006 11:20 pm

I saw on another web site that A380 MSN 007, F-WWSD has returned from Hamburg and has been re-registered to F-WWJB. Any idea why that would be?

Perhaps EY agreed to give it back to Airbus to assign it to someone else?

That wouldnt have made sense anyway, because both F-WWSD and F-WWJB are Airbus designated registrations, not the registrations the customer would be operating them under. This was probably done for some internal reason more than anything.

True.

MSN 003 is the plane completed to the new, "proper", wiring specs, correct?

So it can't be that...

MSN007 recently completed a full cabin fit in Hamburg, so that could be a reason - is F-WWSD a temporary ferry flight registration maybe? MSN007 was supposed to take part in the route proving programme but this was switched to MSN002 for time reasons.

Which plane was involved in the engine type switch? Maybe that has something to do with it...

MSN009 is the GP7200 powered test aircraft, to be reengined to RR before delivery.

MSN007 was once scheduled to undergo re-engining to EA GP7200s once the route-proving flights it was originally scheduled to perform (actually done by MSN002) with the RRs currently installed were completed. Whether that remains part of the flight-test plan is unclear.

...A second GP7200-powered A380, MSN007, is set to join the certification effort for around two months from March 2007. This aircraft (Rolls-Royce Trent 900-powered and due to carry out route-proving at the end of the year), may be switched "depending on Rolls-Royce's flight tests and that of the aircraft", says Hughes. "It's currently designated as the noise certification aircraft, but Airbus has the flexibility of changing the serial number of that aircraft depending on its production and certification plans," says Hughes, adding that route-proving for the GP7200-powered A380 is currently set for March-April 2007, "but that's pretty tentative"...
