Difference Between MD-10-10(F) & MD-10-30(F)

Mon Dec 11, 2006 12:51 am

Pretty straight forward, what are the differences between the MD-10-10 and MD-10-30.

Also, can one convert a DC-10 into a passenger MD-10, or is it a freighter only conversion?

Taking a guess here, but the MD-10-30(F) would have the center landing gear and the MD-10-10(F), would not.

The same differences as a DC-10-10 and a DC-10-30. After all that's all it really is.

Being that the MD10 is a Fedex inspired project, passenger models are a non-issue.

Absolutely. The MD-10 conversion was certainly available for passenger operators. NWA looked at it quite seriously prior to 9/11 and likely would have proceeded if not for events.

The cargo conversion is simply one phase of the MD-10 program. Passenger airlines could still take advantage of 2-man cockpit retrofit and its benefits.

The difference is the center landing gear, another difference we cannot see...the range, the DC-10-30, OR MD-10-30 is used for long-haul routes, like GRU, instead of MD-10-10, used by Fedex in domestic routes in USA.

Thanks for the photos, guys!

Regards.
