Wed Dec 13, 2006 2:25 am

Star Alliance and BCN are planning for 2008 with new terminal to create its HUB for the south of Europe. The project is with JK/ ( spanish menber) and SK/LH/SR/TP/US/SQ/LO/AU AND TG/TK in a futur will joint.
BCN has a good oportunity to grow and MAD will keep ONE WORLD. Good luck

BCN will be the new maintenance base for JK.

Yes, that's great news for BCN! I just posted the same thing on the AZ-dumping-Skyteam-and-perhaps-joining-StarAlliance thread. I've been looking for an article in english but I couldn't find any, just this one in catalan: L'aliança d'aerolínies Star Alliance vol convertir el Prat en el punt de connexió dels seus vols amb el sud d'Europa

At the bus station, buses stop. At the train station, trains stop. At my desk, I have a work station.

Sounds good! MAD is a mess, BCN could well work as hub.

just this one in catalan

Although you don't like it, there are others in spanish too.

I thought this forum was about planes and that stuff...I am from Barcelona, I was grown up in Venezuela so I didn't speak Catalan until I was ten years old and I've never had any problem, neither in BCN nor in other parts of Catalonia.
Anyway, I don't see the problem on writing an article in Catalan, because the source you've taken is from there, i'm sure it also had an Spanish version, maybe you didn't search enough.

And if all of us were to tell everything we hate with such easiness this would turn into a very unpleasant forum...

Finally and returning to the original idea MHO is that BCN is a perfect place for such a HUB, it's a great city with a great airport that now is starting to play the role it should have been playing for years, but neither Iberia nor the Government wanted...

Thanks to all

Well maybe we will see a UA flight to BCN...

That would be wonderful. Nothing against LH, but if I can omit the couple hours laid over in FRA each way, I'd be happy.

This could be looked at two ways

Firstly IB is making its BCN operation partly LoCo with Click Air. Spanair can come in and take the passengers who would rather not fly a LoCo but use a more traditional airline.

But why are IB puting ClickAir into BCN - because of pressure from the LoCo's and the effect on yields. Spanair will face the same problem. They are going to have to be very careful with the routes they choose becuase getting into fares wars with the likes of Click Air, Vueling and FR at Gerona will just cause low yields and an unprofitable hub
