Mystery 738 At DTW

Wed Dec 13, 2006 10:55 am

I was flying through DTW tonight and saw an odd 738 at the old international arrivals building. I was wondering if anyone can tell me who it belongs to. Here's what I know...

- Registration was EI-OKD (I think)
- White fuselage, blue tail, blue winglets. The blue was about the same shade as TZ blue
- There was one of those fanciful pictures of an atom on the tail... a bunch of "orbits" and then little balls ("electrons") of various colors on some of the "orbits"
-No titles that I saw

Does anyone know what this bird is?

From your description, it would belong to Futura airlines...

Couldn't tell you why it's in DTW though.

They lease some of their aircraft to Ryan International during the winter months. This was probably one of them operating charter to someplace warm.
35 years of American Trans Air/ATA Airlines, 1973-2008. A great little airline that will not be soon forgotten.

That's the one. Interestingly, though, I don't think the bird I saw had the artwork on the winglets or the fuse.

It is Ryan International. They have started their winter charter operations. I was outside the other day walking my dog when one flew over downwind. It was near dark out, but not dark enough to tell it had a white fuselage and a blue tail. I thought at first it was the Continental IAH flight running quite late.

So as long as we're on the subject of DTW rare birds, there was an AC Airbus in town tonight also. I assume the Senators were aboard, though I couldn't find it on Flightaware.
