CO70 14DEC EWR AMS BF Question

Thu Dec 14, 2006 8:30 am

HI there,

I am hoping someone can enlighten me. I am waitlisted on an R/cl ticket EWR AMS for 14 December and need to know if I have any chance of getting away.

CO Reservations advised me that there are seats available but that they will not let me on standby for this flight and that they would leave first with empty seats before letting me on. I didn't understand this, but maybe one of you could explain this.

Kind regards,

QM001 (167 Air Malawi)

You're wondering if you've got a shot at BF, or a shot at making the flight in general?

No shot at Biz-First, but a good chance of a Y seat if you're going standby

Ok, Thanks for the Info. But will they seriously let it leave with BF Seats open, rather than let me get on?

I was on a EWR-MAD flight that was overbooked , so i they offered me a different routing EWR-AMS-MAD arriving in madrid a little bit later the same day , they later explained that they would put me in BF
on top of giving me a travel voucher .
I could see them leaving some seats open around busy travel times for that reason.

Yes, sadly (stupidly) that is the case, although they do clear wait lists up until 24 hours prior to departure (it was 72 hours until about a year ago) so you still have a chance. This part of the CO OnePass system is far from great, and I dont want to be negative, but its unlikely that it will clear.....I have had no luck with this system at all. (I fly CO between Europe and US about 12 times per year, am Platinum, and if I cant confirm my upgrades on the transatlantic flights when booking and/or they dont clear atleast a month before, its not happening.)

And, there is nothing that they can do at the airport. So they entire chat with the gate agent is nothing more than wasted breathe.

Sorry.

Hi all,

Just though I would let you know that I got away. No sweet talk, just a nice agent and some conversation in between. I was very very happy, and I can assure you now hold CO in an even higher regard than before.

Talk about a packed flight though! WOW!

Brgds,
