Question About EMA

Thu Dec 14, 2006 1:11 pm

From September 2007, I'll be living in Loughborough, which is about 9 miles from East Midlands Airport (EMA).

I have yet to visit EMA. Does it possess a good, easily accessible viewing area while landside? If it does, what is it like?

No there isnt anywhere in the terminal offering views of the apron. best thing to do is go to the aeropark or one of the access ramps off the Castle Donington road between the race circuit and the town. alternativly try the other end near the UPS brokerage and new Royal Mail hub.

The Aeropark is ok if the weather is on your side. It is always better if aircraft are landing from the West aswell. Pretty good views, although it is difficult to see the apron.

I find the best place is as you are coming up through Castle Donnington Village, take the last turning on the left before the Aeropark and keep going to the end. Better views of the whole airport.

It is a shame there aren't better facilities!
