What Is The Scrap Metal Value Of A Falcon 20?

Fri Dec 15, 2006 5:52 am

i know someone out at ADS that is parting out a falcon 20. i was wondering how much the metal is worth (no avionics or engines) as scrap. i am pondering hauling it to a aluminum recycling center but don't know if its worth the effort. if anyone can tell me the approximate value of the scrap metal i would appreciate it greatly.

I have no clue, but maybe the guy will sell the metal himself ?

The only sad sight would be watching your butt trying to haul that hunk of metal off. I guess it'd be sad in a comical sort of way.

I have more than three thousand hours on Falcon 20's. ...I think it is one of the most beautiful aircraft ever built and I miss flying them very much.

im not suggesting that i wanted it to be scrapped but fact is it is being parted out and since theres nothing i can do about it i might as well make a profit. i am able to haul it off you can trust me on that.

I second that, except I've got just under 2K in the 20. I'd trade in my Hawker in a second to go back to a 20.

Is it Ameristar ? Last time I was in Addison, looked like they were parting one right there on the Mercury ramp. I think Cherry is still flying all or most of theirs.
My definition of cool ? Not trying so hard to be cool.

Not just good looking either. I worked for Garrett in the late seventies and early eighties and we were taking in new Falcons for interior. They'd come to us green ballasted with lead plates and French sand in a big box...at the same time we were taking in Hawkers.. The AMD products had, without a doubt, the finest sheet metal work I ever saw. Absolutely superb workmanship.

I also think the Falcon 20 may be the strongest and best built executive jet ever. As evidence for that comment see the photo below:-

There are actually two completely separate intances of midair collisions with French and Norwegian Air Force Falcon 20's.
On both occasions they were being used as simulated targets for fighter aircraft which accidentaly hit them from behind. ...One Falcon lost part of it's tailplane and in the other accident the Falcon lost a good portion of it's wing.
On both occasions the Falcon 20's LANDED SAFELY.

What about the other planes? Hopefully they landed safely or the pilot was able to eject.

It really is a sad sight. Check this out:

While it wasn't the aircraft shown above, I do know that a 727-200 frame recently sold for scrap for around $5,000. This was after it had been stripped of all the titanium, inconel and components. I can't imagine a Falcon 20 bringing more than that.

I was on the course for the Falcon20 in Villacoublay, Paris when we were told those stories by the staff instructor and it was 20 years ago. However, I think I recall that the fighter pilots also got down safely.
