Anymore Orders To Announce Before The End Of Year?

Fri Dec 15, 2006 11:32 pm

With ten days to go before Christmas, any expected orders to be finalized and announced from A and B before holiday starts?

There were talks about Boeing might reach 1,000 orders and Airbus might annouce more orders for A319/A320 by the end of 2006, but they appear just speculations as time is counting down.

Any news?

With the danger of encouraging lots of silly 46th of December nonsense -

AB usually annouced the December figures in mid Jan and I expect that the movements on the A380 will be firmed - QF + 8, SQ + 9 and FX -10. I would also expect some XWB orders/reconfirmations.

As for B, I'm not sure but I'm sure that there will be some that just pop-up out of nowhere - eg todays TUI 65 frames!

In my opinion, yes. Though I believe that some announcements could be further identification of UFOs which Boeing have listed. There are still some RFPs which will be finalised too, Vueling of Spain as an example and we still await AV.

Not to forget 20 x A330-200 for AerCap  Wink

Yes, expect the finalisation of a lot of recently and not so recently announced LoIs and pending orders. For an idea as to whom maybe behind some of these I suggest a visit to the following A.net thread which is continually updated by Hamlet69 and other members and very accurate.

I doubt we'll see too much of a mad flurry. Both manu's are ahead of forecast by a wide margin.

Additionally Airbus has pretty much concede the order race this year, so I don't think they will push too hard.

Imho Boeing is unlikely to announce any 787 orders for the balance of the year. They are more likely to save those and 777 orders for next year when the 350 will be getting some orders. No point pushing something big up 2 weeks and starving early 07 numbers.
I don't care what you think of my opinion. It's my opinion, so have a nice day :)

Agreed, and I think Airbus will be doing the same thing as they've already conceded the '06 orders race. Tehy would want to get a headstart on the '07 race.

Mind you all this order's race stuff and who get's the most orders is PR and marketing. In the end it's more important what goes out the hanger door. Airlines cancel and defer orders based on their financial situation. Right now Airbus has thegreater production by about 30-35 units over Boeing. However when the 787s and 748I start coming off the line that cold very well change.
