Is Cayman Airways Operating Some 727-200?

Sat Dec 16, 2006 7:47 pm

Hi Guys,

Over the past months, I have been noticing on Florida-Grand Cayman flights with Cayman Airways the aircraft type B722 appear on several flights. The only thing I can think of its just a typo error for 732 since I don't recall them operating any 727 or having heard they had leased one but it has happen a lot of times which is making me suspect that they are indeed operating a 722. Look at these examples:

And for this CAY909 flight it seems the mayority of it has been operated with a 722:

I think this is no typo, but I wanted to see if anybody knew if they are actually operating a 727, could be from Miami Air if they are...

Thanks guys!

interesting indeed.. and interesting that one of the flights is to Orlando Sanford, and not to Orlando MCO..

The only 727s that are seen at SFB are PanAMs clipper connection.. so it might be that one.

Back in 2001 we family vacationed in Grand Cayman for a week. Flew on Cayman Air from Houston. When we were to leave the flight was canceled. Seems that of the three aircraft in the fleet, one was out for a major check, and the second choked on birds taking off from Tampa earlier that morning. The company put us up for two days and finally got us out on an Air Nunivet B727 they quickly got from somewhere.

The odd thing was sitting on this plane in the heat while reading the seat pocket magazine about tours to Greenland, Baffin Island and northern Canada. Talking to the crew, they told me that in the winter months they leave home for many weeks with the aircraft to fly sports team charters all around the U.S. It was neat: I didn't think that I'd ever get another 727 flight.

Sounds like back to the future.

For most of the 1980s into early 1990s KX operated a pair of ex Air Florida B727s.
