Happy 75th Birthday T W A!

Fri Jul 14, 2000 7:42 am

Today (13 July) marks the 75th birthday of Trans World Airlines. It is the oldest existing U.S. airline and the first ever to celebrate 75 years of service.

A forthcoming book entitled "TWA: An Airline and Its Aircraft" is due out in November. It is authored by Ronald E.G. Davies, who has evidently written several other acclaimed airline histories. To reserve a copy, send $35 to Paladwr Press, 1906 Wilson Lane Suite 101, McLean, VA 22102

Excerpts from the book appear in this month's TWA Ambassador magazine, along with some fantastic pictures of famous stars who flew the airline in its heyday.

Did you know TWA was once bigger than the original Pan Am?

Happy Birthday, TWA!

A little trivia: TWA used to stand for Transcontinental and Western Air, something that I just found out myself.

Hope they make it to 150!!!

Ditto that! Happy 75th TWA. It's admirable that a company with such a turbulant history has been able to survive, but also begin to thrive. May their next 75 years be a little more smooth.

I think all of us are TWA fanatics. And all of us want them to survive another 75 years. I am so so proud that they have made it, and I only wish the best for them. Here comes the $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

Indeed, a proud and colorful history comes to a tremendous hallmark today. No airline has been as ravaged and fought back so hard as TWA. For that, I too, wish the Lindbergh Line, a happy happy 75.

May she live long.
