Is This Really The Same 727?

Thu Dec 21, 2006 1:43 pm

Yesterday I photographed and uploaded this 727, A6-RSA:

As I didn't know the identity, I left some of the fields blank, in the meanwhile someone added the serial number of this aircraft:

I have my doubts, why would they convert a cargo 727 with windows plugged back to non-plugged windows...?

Can the database editor or fellow a.netter who entered this info please shed some light on this?

These are two different aircraft. The picture you took yesterday looks like a pax 27. There is no cargo door and I see what looks like an ADF antenna on the lower forward fuselage. There is no antenna on the aircraft from the picture you took last year. Also notice the exhaust nozzles on both aircraft, they have different style hush kits on them.

Hopes this helps.  Smile

The second picture is UN-B2702. I think your picture is the former UN-B2701

I'm a little curious about why this photo was given priority?

New reg, which made it impossible for me to trace it, so I wasn't aware that the livery itself wasn't new. No bad feelings please!

Great picture regardless. The 727 gets my vote for best looking plane any day. (Well, not counting the Starship...)

Meh...the crew are harmless... Big grin

Are those hushkits? Or exhaust plugs/covers?

Those are stage III hush-kits. The exhaust nozzles on UN-B2701 are the FED EX designed hush-kits. I have no idea who designed the other aircraft's hush-kit.

My comment was meant towards UN-B2702. Sorry...

I forgot it was a new reg. In fact, I missed out on one a couple of months ago because of that.
