Though it's quite likely they indeed won't be full (at least the AMS-KWI flight), booking class availability is not too much of an indication.

They're too dependant on overbooking policies as well as the general sales policies for a specific flight/date combination; I've been on flights showing 0 in all classes to find several seats available, and I've been on flights showing 9 in just about every booking class, which turned out be completely full.

You have to be a registered user of Amadeus, Apollo, Sabre or any GDS.

There are also several tools for free, for example http://kvs.unrealnetwork.com/Tool/?F=RT (there are more...)

Are you non-revving? Because there is an earlier flight to AMS (KL1072, STD 06.10) and with the situation in the UK caused by the fog there maybe a backlog of passengers. So it's really better to try to get out as early as possible and have some time at SPL before your connecting flight at 15.40. X-mas atmosphere is very nice with loads of decorations.

If you're not non-revving, just ask the agent at the desk for the loads and maybe she can block a free seat for you so you'll have some space. Enjoy the A330-200 to KWI!

Lamendianaranja,

I won't be non-reving, so hopefully there shouldn't be a problem getting to Amsterdam. KL A330's are awesome, great planes, and very comfortable. I always look forward to flying them.

thanks for your help.

boggled  she? there are plenty of guys at check-in as well... Big grin

I check the KL check-in system. KL1082 is overbooked by just a few seats in m-class and has a couple of open seats in Europe Select. KL457 is HEAVILY oversold in M-class, however c-class is wide open.

Enjoy your flight!

hmmm, I'm booked on M class...think there would be a chance I'd be bumped up to Europe Select/World Business Class?

Try your luck at the gate, if the Gate Agent is in a good mood and you're a nice guy, who knows, she might do it. Elites get preference but you might get lucky.

Not really all that weird - happens every day... that's why I posted this comment:

It can give you a general idea, but it's not even close to an exact measurement.

It is actually weird since the D and W buckets are award booking classes, and although overbooking is a common practice, one would expect that KLM would not make award tickets available in cases of serious overbooking. I guess that WBC must be really empty and/or that the AMS KWI route has a large no show factor.
